Random thread...but there's always a lotta talk out there about dating, hooking up and so forth. Fun to read about and surely more exciting than reading about devoted couples, but I'm going to throw the question out there for all the SFers who aren't out on the town every night sniffing up some tail...who's for it? Anyone think it has pros to overbalance the cons? Or is it just a dead-end of heartbreak and disappointment?

Thoughts?

If you're a real man, you'll be able to put up with the same **** day in and day out for the rest of your life. I'm all for monogamy but don't know if I'm ready to get married for a couple of years yet. In almost all instances I'm against divorce.

I'm in a monogamous relationship, and will keep it that way (unless something happens...). Though, the German Teacher's Aid and I have had some saucy encounters, often around her boyfriend (who is my best friend

I'm against monogamy. That's why you'll see me converting to Islam in the near future. If you think about it, it's a pretty sweet religion:

1. Polygamous while you live
2. Fonding virgins while you die.

You can't really ask for more.

There are much more stylish religions though.

I think the catch is that they have to stay virgins.

I picked "when I'm good and ready". I became ready about a decade ago but until that time, I was not a fan of it. I think it just has to do with whether or not you meet up with a person that makes you feel like it's the right thing. Until the woman who would become my wife happened along, I was not someone that thought monogamy would work for me. If she hadn't have come along, or someone like her, I'd still probably not be in an exclusive relationship.

Monogamy works for me. But whatever floats yer boat, as long as you sluts pay higher health insurance premiums.

LMAO @ that statement! that is total crap. Unless a guy is HAPPY with his "same **** day in day out" routine, otherwise it takes a real man to get off his ass and change his situation to make his life better.

I'm all for it in my relationship. I've been cheated on (with two different guys in the same night, no less!) and it feels like ****. I'll never do it to anyone.

If you and your partner(s) don't care and everyone is above-board about what's going on, then good for you.

Excellent line I just read last night in Cormac McCarthy's novel The Crossing:

"It would take one hell of a wife to beat no wife at all."
