Yeah, that's what I did. They were tight at first but stretched out an inch after a few wears and are comfortable now. That said, I think sizing up one isn't a bad way to go either, but two is too loose, imo.

People have different body shapes (hip to waist ratio, thigh circumference etc.) and use different comparables to come up with their "true size".

Don't Crate Route in size 30 fit too big for you? A lot people just go true to size for that model.

^ Right, but I whenever I refer to "true size," I mean the measurement of your waist at the point where your jeans sit. I can't speak for everyone else, though.

And when I said the Routes were too big, I meant in the thighs, not the waist. But the extra room in the thighs meant I probably could've sized down more, since the waist can stretch.

General rule is to size down 3. So if you're a true waist 33, get a tagged 30.

They were my first pair of raws, after reading the APC thread, I went with a tagged 30. I have a 33" waist. I've been wearing them for a couple months now, and if I could, I'd go back and buy a 29 instead, maaaybe even a 28. The waist on my Rescues has stretched out to about 34.5". I think sizing down 4 would be best, maybe even more depending on your preference. I don't wear my jeans super tight or tapered or anything, just slim and straight. I can post fit piics and measurements if you'd like.

hmm, true. I have a 28 in NS, I sorta want the same fit but just a large front rise, so maybe just a 28 Rescue.

I'd recommend a 27 Rescue, from what I've read. I've never tried on any NS because I'm not a big fan of the taper, but from reading threads and looking at measurement charts, it looks like the Rescues measure a bit bigger in the waist, and that'll give you a closer fit to your NS, but realize that the NS is tapered, the Rescues aren't. Overall, even with a 27 Rescue compared to a 28 NS, the Rescue is probably gonna be quite a bit looser everywhere.

Thats what I'm looking for, a fit like my NS but a tad looser.

Rescue only goes down to a size 28, which effectively fits someone sized 31. Smaller folks (and everyone, really) are better off with Crate Squires.

I am certainly a beginner here and have read several threads (had to stop reading the denim 101 for mc before my head exploded!), but I still am lost. I want a pair of slim (not tight, but nice straight lines) dark jeans that won't fade over time to be worn on the weekends. Personally, I would like to get the best bang for the buck and like the look of the APC NS, but am worried about fading. I heard Levi's were a good cheap alternative, but everything on the Levis sight is prefaded looking junk (except the super skinny, which would be too skinny for me). Thanks to everyone for any help you can give.

I'm sure they make 511s/514s in raw material. And yeah APC NS fade like mad.

Seems like LVC 501 47s might be a good choice for you.
