I have a jean...(The Ultimate Jean Thread For Beginners) - ask questions here. - Page 256

Hi guys

I'm after a nice fitting pair of black jeans for a decent price. I want a nice dressy slim pair without being too slim/tight. Would appreciate some brands to check out which have a nice fit and are of decent quality

Thanks

dst, I enjoy my Nudie Slim Jim Dry Black Coated. I use them to bypass the dress code at work and wear "jeans".

What is the difference between the Nudie Slim Jim in Dry Broken Twill and the Nudie Slim Jim in Dry Black Stretch? The difference I see is that the Dry Black Stretch has 2% EA in the fabric (whatever that is). Are these both just normal jeans? I'm just a little cautious because they are so much cheaper than the other Slim Jims.

Well the stretch you know about, it contains 2% lycra and will stretch (though I believe the point of the stretch is to keep the jeans slim, not to give extra room. Correct me if I'm wrong on this someone) . The other is the SJ in broken twill, which basically makes little zizags in the fabric. Here is an example of broken twill denim: Here is another example of broken twill on a pair of worn jeans (by Evisu): http://www.evisu.com/blog/tag/broken-twill/

Alright thanks. Does the Dry Black Stretch look different in any way? In the picture it looks normal, but I'm not completely sure. They sound pretty appealing if they will stretch a little with me just in case I go a little too small.

Looking for a men's skinny jean that doesn't sit low, ie has a regular waste. I've got athletic legs too, which normally is a challenge. I tried the Levi's 514 skinny straight, which would work but it sits low on the waste. Something like that with a normal waste would be great.

Any brand is ok. Ideas?

Thanks for the help!

I have been looking into getting my first pair of selvedge, dry jeans. Upon looking most of the RRL jeans that I have found are sanforized. I have read that it reduces shrinking and should be done to raw jeans before wearing them so that the fit is proper to how it will look later on in the jeans life. Is this true? Also will the sanforized jeans still fade and take on my bodys normal wear patterns? I have also read that you can have the sanforized jeans starched to make them wear faster. Is this true? Sorry to ask all these probably stupid questions but these jeans are expensive and I do not want to waste my money. Thank you all in advance for your replies. ~Derek

If this is the right fit, what should I get with Nudie Slim Jim?

Sort of. It basically means they're preshrunk, so they'll shrink as much as your average cotton garment.

Yes.

Yes; the stiffer they are, the harder the creases formed by wear will be. You can starch them yourself, with the spray stuff they sell at any drugstore. Don't go too crazy, though, as it's not great for the fabric in the long run.

thanks db_ggmm

Ok another Q: For those with 5EP x SF, what's the best way to wash these? How do they change (if at all) post wash? Have yet to wash them after wearing on average once a week for a yr.

Thanks!

There's an entire thread or two dedicated to 5epxSF that is full of pics. Take a look there or at the top of this page you can use the StyleForum Gallery that no one seems to see. Washing is up to you: cold soak, hot soak, hot wash, cold wash, washing machine... it really doesn't matter much.

Anyone around here know anything about the differences in Ande Whalls STF an SZ denim? I can't decide which one to buy.

my true waist is about a 31" and I wear 29 or 30 in Nudies, if they have stretch I size down if not stay at normal 30.

Hey,

I know a topic of this nature has been discussed at length on this forum, but I couldn't find a precise answer to my question. Just looking for a quality piece of denim between 50-150 dollars, slim boot cut or straight leg, Blue jeans or dirty denim. Obviously, fit is crucial, thus It'd be hard to buy online. Barney's Warehouse sale is going on in Manhattan, I may go tonight..not sure. I'd most prefer the jeans to be marked down and less than 100.

Thanks
