I have a jean...(The Ultimate Jean Thread For Beginners) - ask questions here. - Page 252

Nobody's trying to be a jerk, but it wouldn't be very easy to give a rec to someone who pops into MC and says "I'm looking for a suit"...

Look in WAYWT and "Post pics of your denim" for stuff that might interest you. Read the MC thread on jeans: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=91068&

Short list of blind recs:

APC rescue
5EP Low Down Boot
Iron Heart
Studio D Artisan 103
RB11
RRL straights

Cheers.

No nothing about denim other than GAP, Levis, etc.

Sugarcane 1947 might be a good fit on you.

Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum. Believe it or not I've got a question about a pair of jeans. I'm typically a 30 waist in Diesels (viker/zathan) and Rock and Republics. However, recently I've been eyeing some Dior Homme 21cms. I'm not too sure of what size to get as I've heard they stretch and possibly vanity sized. What are your suggestions? Thanks in advance!

19 and 21cms measure 2 inches larger than the tagged waist (i.e. a size 29 has a 31" waist off the rack). The Japanese ones stretch less than the Italians, but they both stretch a fair bit. They're both very versatile cuts, and look good tite (mostly), sized true (wearing a 30 if you have a 30" waist), or sized up (Kanye steez).

Eluxury has a generous return policy, so you can buy and compare a couple sizes and return the ones that don't fit. They only carry the Italians though.

Basically, measure the actual waist of your best-fitting pair of jeans (pulled tight), decide how you want your Diors to fit, and order accordingly. Don't get caught up in getting a super-tite fit - like I said, they look find worn lots of different ways.

It also helps to remember that APCs are really more of the notorious brands with regards to super-stretching denim. Everyone else seems pretty par for the course.

i guess thats why i'm so paranoid about stretching bc the only pairs of raw denim i have ever had are apcs.

Um, none? Can you be more specific? I know there's a Rigid Rinse model this season, which is preshrunk/sanforized indigo selvage (for $60!); maybe there's a corresponding black (non-selvagel) model I don't know about...

^ Levi's have done black STFs in the past, I'm wearing a pair right now. Someone posted a pic of his beige 501xx last month, and they have the new 501 cut, so I wouldn't be surprised if black STFs are available again.

There are black stfs available currently. http://www.sheplers.com/mens/classic....html?color=89

Quick question regarding 2 jeans I have. A pair of Ande Whall Cougars and Nudie bootcut ola's washed. Basically I have had them for around 5-6 months and I feel it is time to soak them rather then wash them to get rid of some sweat and dirt. I also would like them to shrink about in inch in width around my legs. They both fit great when I first recieved them. They were just the amount of tightness around my legs that I liked but they have stretched out about an inch from wear. So I went ahead and soaked the nudies in lukewarm water for about 2 hours. The water temperature was close to what I enjoy taking a shower in. Not too hot to the skin but sit warm. Anyways they really didnt shrink much if any. So what did I do wrong? Should I make the water hotter? Thanks!

Both are sanforized so shrinking is very minimal.

Even if you wash jeans and dry them, they'll stretch out to their old size within a couple of wears. Just the nature of the fabric.

True, but be careful, as you may lose some inseam length, which is harder to get back. A warm or cold wash and hang dry isn't going to shrink them much at all; to change the shape of a sanforized pair noticeably, you probably need to hot wash and tumble dry.
Alright guess Ill just soak them for cleaning purposes and not worry about the shrinking. Seems like it would be too much trouble. Thanks

For the record... i bought a pair of good society slim leg raw jeans in a size 30... They dont fit... I sized down two sizes as recommended and i was unable to button them at the waist. The legs fit nice and slim but the waist was and is entirely too small. Btw I'm 6'2" 158lbs and wear a size 32/34.
