5EP/KMW>Nudie>APC. The Crates are good, too, if you're looking for the best US selvage denim available as it's old school Cone.

if you're going to put a cap on spending to $300 the world's your oyster you can look at some Japanese brands that mostly sell in the upper 200s (Dry Bones, PBJ, Somet etc) Jean Shop is one of my personal faves, also in the upper mid 200s (you can get these from Mauro Farinelli now) but it sounds like you really need to try stuff on, tho I realize that may not be possible

does the nudie slim jim measure smaller in the knee than the hem? Context lists the knee as .25" slimmer than the hem, doesn't this kind of make it a bootcut?

I'm looking to pick up a pair of Ande Whall jeans. I'd like to see pics of people wearing his jeans though to get a better idea of how they fit, but can't find that after using the search function on this board. Anyone know where I might be able to find these?

You'll find cougar pics (not you, Conne) on here but the miner and sailor are completely new cuts that haven't been released yet.

Two things: 1) Search--> Google--> "Ande Whall" 2) http://www.styleforum.net/g/showgallery.php/cat/529 (Part of the Styleforum Gallery located at the top of this page that is LOADED with photos of jeans.)

Suggest a pair of jeans to me please!

I've got a pair of uniqlo dry selvedge that I've been workin' on but I'm really wanting to buy another pair of jeans now..

I've been lookin at
1. Nudie Avg Joe
2. 5ep LDB
3. Looking for used japanese denim on the B&S forum such as Flathead F380

I know that might be a strange list of jeans that all don't fit that similarly but everyday I find myself wanting to get something different that I just want someone to make the decision for me! Thanks!

5ep. I'll tell you right now that they're a pain in the ass to break in so don't go in it for teh fadez. If you stick it out you'll be rewarded with some incredible denim that will look it with age and wear.

ah so 5ep probably isn't what i'm looking for since i'm mainly looking for some jeans for casual wear as opposed to a project...what about japanese denim? would that be something more along the lines of what i'm looking for or do those take alot of time to take care of and break in as well?

5ep is Japanese denim, the company just happens to be based in the US. If you want quick fading denim you should probably avoid pretty much all Japanese denim.

I consider brands like APC, Nudie, and Imperial to be fast fading denim.

Actually, I'd say a lot of the Japanese brands fade as quickly as those (and better at the same time). Take a look at the contest threads (both the old samurai and the current warehouse) at sufu for examples.

I've found them to be better about holding their color through washes, but not necessarily through wear.

ok i wear my APC ns basically everyday and am looking to buy a desert boot.

i live in cleveland with ridiculous snow soon to come.

is suede a bad idea? or should i stick with leather? what products do i need to weather proof, polish them to look good?

also what is the best/most popular color? i was leaning towards either dark brown suede, beeswax, or black suede or leather.
