Can anyone recommend a washed selvedge pair of jeans under $200.  I don't wear jeans that often so I don't really want to go into raw denim.

naked and famous! they go for around $150

Naked and famous doesn't have washed denim. Washed selvedge generally is more expensive due to the extra time and labor involved with washing so my only guess maybe levis for under $200. You usually can find some lvc or made and crafted on sale. Otherwise baldwin denim and rogue territory have some washed options but over 200

Probably Kicking Mule Workshop or The Stronghold.

I'd say LVC. They had washed jeans on Vente Privee for sale like around $50 - $100. If you wanna wait, they go on sale about twice a year or something like that. When they do, they sell out quickly.

Thanks I was looking at LVC but it looks like they only have the 501s. I understand the cuts were different throughout the years so I'm wondering if any of them fit close to a modern day 511 as that is what I currently wear.

I'm a huge fan of Iron Heart denim, shirts, and jackets, but am not totally crazy about their belts. I primarily wear Iron Heart shirts (flannels, workshirts..) and live in two pairs of Iron Heart raw denim, the 301S and the superblack 8301S.

Can anyone recommend any belts that aren't Iron Heart or Tanner? I'm looking for a leather belt in natural leather. Somewhere in the under $200 area.my waist size is 29.

you could try Hollows Leather (they have a chromexcel leather belt with japanese brass hardware for $110 and other chromexcel leather belts for $85), Hellbrand Leather and Corter Leather also have belts in natural leather.

Naked and Famous has a really beefy leather belt, I believe it is around $90-$100

X-posted from the thrift bragging site.

Hey guys, so ever since I've lost 30 lbs. my size 34, 1967, LVC is too big in the waist for me for about 1.5 inches to 2, and I had the same problem with my size 30, Civilianaire. I was pretty bummed because I really like those jeans. I was thinking about selling those two until I had the crazy idea of hot soaking them both and now, BOTH OF THEM HAVE SHRINK TO FIT MY SIZE 31/32 WAIST!!! Well, the size 34 LVC is still about 1/2 inch too large in the waist but that's not a big deal. So those of you who are facing the same issue of having your favorite pair of jeans a bit large in the waist, just do a hot soak, hang dry and your jeans should shrink a bit in the waist! Pass it on! I'm super stoked!!! :fonz:

You may find that the benefits of a hot soak to be quite temporary on those particular pairs ... not to be confused with the requirement for an initial soak with unsanforized denim.

I love my weird guys in big slub and red weft, but when sized so they fit perfect standing up, it tends to not quite contain my ass sitting or (god forbid) bending over or whatnot. A higher rise cut seems like the right way to deal with that, but I'm not sure what my options would be that still come in interesting denim. I suppose there's also keeping a stout belt on pretty snugly, but that's still a bit uncomfortable, and I don't imagine the seat would stretch any appreciable amount.

Did the weird guy high turn out to be a dead end cut? I only ever saw them on Gilt in regular indigo.

We shall see...Lol well, to be fair, I've soaked my LVCs about twice in cold water. I had them about over a year. This was a first time hot soaking them and it worked for me. I'll report back with the results!
