Yeah looks like the tailor thought you wanted the original hem so that's how they do it although this looks a little messier than others. With new raw denim it's kind of pointless to do an original hem unless you wanted to keep the chainstitch hem. You could get it redone without the original hem but you're going to lose some length

Am I going to lose more than 2'' in length? I just want a normal hem that doesn't look messy and where there are not two different stitches in the bottom of the leg.

Yeah, you should be fine, but I'm not sure you need the second wash. One hot wash should get out all the shrinkage and they will be ready to go--unless Sams are noted to take a few washes to get all the shrink out.

I'm just getting into the world of raw denim, and it's a bit overwhelming. I was hoping you all could assist me in my search for some well-fitting denim.

My first purchase was a pair of APC New Standards, 30". They fit wonderfully, and will stretch out a bit over time. I'm looking for some heavier denim to augment my wardrobe, but I don't know which fits would be best. I'm looking for anything similar to the NS fit.

Thus far I've looked into the Naked and Famous Weirdguy, the Iron Heart 666S, and Nudie Grim Tim's. I like being able to cuff my jeans at the base, as well as the stacking fades that occur with longer inseams.

If you all could list (heavier) denim with a similar fit/style to the New Standards, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Check out 3sixteen ST and SL cuts. Excellent denim and construction, made in the US and a competitive price. They are available direct from 3sixteen.com and also though forum affiliate Self Edge (online, 4 store locations: LA, SF, NYC, Porland, OR)

I have a new pair of Naked and Famous weird guy jeans.  They fit pretty good, but the rise seems very low and when I bend over I feel that i am experiencing "plumber's crack".  Is this something that Naked and Famous wearers experience?  If I really tighten them up with a belt this can be prevented, but it has to be tight to the point of discomfort.

^ just the way they're cut with a low rise.

So, looking for a pair of black denim.

True waist is 31, ~170lbs, and 6'.

Had a pair of 3sixteen 220x, size 31. I didn't love them, the fabric felt very stiff, even after wearing them 2x or so per week for ~8 months. They went through the wash (on cold, I thought) and came out too small. The general fit was good, except the waist was slightly tight, even after ~8 months.

Tried the John Elliot Obsidians. Sizing was tricky (29 was too slim in the thigh; 30 was too loose in the waist), couldn't find something that worked in the waist and in the thigh, but I loved the fabric.

Had a pair of APC New Cures for ~3 years, but that cut is too slim in the thigh now (too many squats); otherwise, it's a good fit.

Currently, my only pair of denim is the 3sixteen Barney's collab, size 30 Good fit all-around.

Any suggestions on what I should look for?

Don't have strong opinions on raw vs non and sanforized vs non - but I don't want to have to be fussy about them.

Looking for jeans that fit similar to american apparel slim slacks (stretch a bit), or w+h jeans (roomy top block). A combination of both would be perfect. I've seen geller jeans have 5% polyurethane and though I'm not exactly sure how much it stretches, it seems like it would be a good choice. I also hear that the knee is quite slim and the waist is not as slim so if I size up one on that then the waist should be perfect.

Any input or other recommendations?

Thanks

are you looking for black warp/white weft or double black jeans? I haven't seen these in person but left field has a double black in a straight and slim fit. I believe railcar also had a pair available right now

Double-black, want them to retain their color over time.

About the uniqlo slim tapereds, how long are the inseams? I have a pear of 511's that are too tight too short. 521's are tapered levi'sthat fit a bit better but just stop on top of my shoes. Will I get stacking with uniqlo tapereds?

Hey guys I would appreciate some input.

I don't often wear jeans and I only have one pair currently. They are an APC Rescue in size 30 in dark blue. When I first bought them, they were super tight, but now they fit a lot better but somehow the waist has stretched out a little more than I'd like. Anyways, I digress....the real question is that I am interested in getting another pair and was wondering what you all recommend. I usually wear jeans with sweaters, button down shirts, and occasionally blazers. What do you guys recommend? Budget is whatever, but obviously the cheaper the better. I am in NYC area so yeah I can go and try stuff on as recommended. I guess I want something to go along with this one pair I already have. Thanks!

Denim fit question: How big do you like your thighs compared to your jeans?

Like, if I have 20" thighs, what would be the ideal thigh measurement on a pair of jeans be?

(Sorry for the double post--posted it in the wrong thread first)

I have around 24 inch legs, and I pretty much just try to squeeze into 12-12.5 jeans and hope they stretch enough. Otherwise the rest of the pant is usually far too big

I've never liked Short Term trend jeans.. whether they are Skinny Narrow Jeans or Bell bottoms.

I like classic fits that TRANSCEND over TIME and TRENDS.

I need to buy 1-3 of such ones.

Upon reading online there is lot of talk about Raw & Selvedge jeans.

What would be the Gentleman approved Jeans right now? Good VALUE please.

Please suggest the following details for your recommendations: (Is there a BEST OF list that I am missing?)

- Color/ Shade/ Wash / Look

- Brand + Model / Fit

- Price (Retail and Sales)

- Where to buy?

ANYONE SUGGESTIONS PLEASE?
