yeah that's true. if you like your jeans on the slim side, it will be a little big. you could do the 301s and if you want more of a taper, you could always have a tailor taper them from the inseam.

I don't think most tailors would taper them from the inseam because of the double felled seam. If they will do it, it's gonna be pricey.

So strange that I couldn't find this thread. Anyways...

Can anyone with Dockers Alpha Khakis recommend a similar fitting pair of denim (raw or washed)? From what I've read the Levi's 513s are the same but the denim quality is lacking.

damn i might just have to deal with the leg opening then, i usually wear low top plimsolls but maybe it wont look as bad/flare with a double cuff. my ideal pair of jeans would have a 31 waist 11.5 thighs and 7.25-7.75 leg opening, all while being roughly around $100. i can dream though musicboohoo[1].gif. thanks for the help

levis are decent beaters if you don't mind washed jeans, for the most part any slim jean may do. you should take the measurements of your khakis and compare them with measurement charts on sites that sell denim such as selfedge, blueowl, etc

Thanks, both these companies have some interesting marketing techniques. If they work out, they may be the best thing since the pop topped beer can. smile.gif

imo, when I double cuff, the leg opening looks bigger and chunkier. i've read a few people post that denim therapy in nyc does a good job tapering jeans all the while keeping the selvage line. only issue is that it does get pricey with shipping to and from with the taper job costing about $40.

Yes double felled seams cant be tapered but its possible with overlock inseam. not all tailors can do it but tailors who have experience with denim should be able to do it without charging a lot more. I've gotten them done in sf for $20. Also railcar denim in LA accepts mail ins and will taper from the inseam. Not sure how much though

Thanks, but I"m more looking for the kind that we're seeing paired with an unconstructed blazer in the italian style, a little less street. Any other suggestions?

would it be easier for the tailor to take the in the waist of a 31 UB201 rather than take in the leg of a 30 UB301?

and also would sizing down on that pair of WGs i linked work? i need a 31 waist which the WG 29s have (11.75 thigh) but would the waist stretch enough where I could size down to a 28 (30 waist, 11.5 thigh)?

who knew buying a pair of jeans involved so much critical thinking...

from the pairs of WG I owned, a 28 should be fine. For me, at least, both pairs of my WG's in size 28 ended up at about 31.5" waist. but if you have questions about specific pairs, you could always email jay at blueowl. not to say he'll definitely know the answer but he's generally very knowledable from my experience.

but make sure that the rise matches the where the rise was for your UB's since the rise will determine what your waist measurement should be.

I just got a new pair of selvage denim, and it fits snug, note that the jeans are sanforized and the seller said it'd shrink at most 1"

The fit is  skinny fit, but in the picture on the website the lower leg area seemed to have some room in them so it's not completely sticking on skin(looks tapered instead of skater skinny) but when I received mine it was skin tight on the lower leg area, Idk if the denim will stretch around the knee - ankle area, also considering the fact that my pair is sanforized?

I've worn them for a few hours yesterday and the waist and thighs have become much more comfy but below the knee it felt skin tight still.. Any help?

It seems that the only jeans that fit me are Levi's capital E matchstick's.  When capital E was discontinued I tried a pair of Levi's in the "matchstick" cut but they fit differently.  I would truly appreciate any recommendations for jeans comparable to the original cut of these. Thanks!

That's a pretty obscure Levi's cut. If you tell us how you want your jeans to fit instead, as well as your body type, it will be easier to recommend you something.
