I know Nudies were recommended previously but they are sold out and I can't afford Dior or Balenciaga. :\
I think Acne's Cash finish is coated.

I have a buddy who is husky.. not "fat" per se but a big dude who wants some jeans with a little personality... not just Levi's or something similar. Are there any mid-grade denims that anyone could recommend for a thick guy who wants to have a little style and look good but not spend a mint? (I'm guessing his budget would be under $200) Ideas? Thx!

I would look at Japan Blue, in the 700 or 400 fit. They're fairly vanity sized and are a really solid product. If he has thigh issues, the 400 sized up one could work for him b/c the rise is fairly low and could accommodate his hips.

If he wants to go all in, I'd recommend Oni in the Blue cut.

I go for Gap denims. Some of their washes look current and i usually go for the Standard fit. They used to carry skinny fit in size 40 a couple seasons ago, but they discontinued it.

^I'd say spend the extra $10-15 and get a pair of 3sixteen SL-100x's; providing that is the type of fit after. Cutting across from the aforementioned questions on rise; I think that huskier men benefit from a higher rise (I sure no that I do :P)

Excellent... I'll pass along those suggestions. I'm thin and athletic myself so I really had no idea where to start to find something a bit more stylish in that kind of fit. Thanks fellas. wink.gif

btw... anyone else care to add feel free or shoot me PM... much appreciated!

You're a pretty small guy, so you can get away with a lower rise. I'm a pretty big guy, and if I tried to wear something with a low rise, I'd be giving off some serious "coinslot" action. Not a look I want to go for. So I need a higher rise pant, that sits higher on my waste to make sure that everything stays covered.

I've read, though not tried it myself, that DIY is actually not that hard. So get yourself a pair that you like that isn't waxed, and just wax them yourself. The wax will only run you about $10.

I've fancied that idea too. Thought about doing it with the 3sixteen double black recommended previously but I'm very wary of screwing them up.

Looking for some advice on some Baldwin Henley's. Previous to these I have worn the 484 from J Crew in a size. I ordered a 29 in the Henley. When I first tried them on last night I could hardly button them. They have stretched a little over the past 24 hours; I like the fit through the leg and the waist is almost where I want them to be. However, they are still uncomfortably tight on my hips. It seems the triple stitching on the yoke is not stretching enough for me.

So, my question, will these loosen up at all at the hips/through the seat? Does the yoke stretch? I have read varying opinions about Baldwins ranging from "they hardly stretch a half inch in the waist" to "be prepared for two sizes worth of stretching in the waist".

If these will stretch where I need them to how long should it take? Thanks.

Bought a pair of raw, selvedge jeans that are shrink to fit.
Not realising the STF part, will the stretch or should I try and get an exchange?

Exchange it or you'll get caught in the rain one day and get your legs crushed to death.

Does anyone have any good recommendations on black super-skinny jeans? I was about to buy the 16cm Saint Laurent ones, but the day I went online to buy them they went out of stock in my size (29) everywhere.

Maybe do a test run on a pair of Levi's? Sell on eBay. Profit!
