What is the ideal temperature to soak unsanforized denim in? And how long should I let them soak?

About to ocean dive with my ironhearts in the north bay after 5 months of hard wear. Tips in not freezing my ass off?

Get it hot (as hot as your bathtub will allow) and let it go for like 30 to 45 minutes

Need advice on fixing a button that was never hammered down properly. There are a couple of teeth (or whatever you want to call them) coming up from the base (post?) of the button through the cap of the button. On the three lower buttons, they've clearly been hammered (or stamped or whatever) into place, so the teeth bend at a 90-degree angle and sit nice and flat along at the bottom of the cap, holding it in place. On the top button, though, the teeth stick straight up, so the cap is loose and wiggles back and forth on the base.

Sorry my camera is awful, but you can kind of see it here:

How do I get the teeth on the top button to behave like the ones on the lower buttons? I could take a screwdriver and hit it with a hammer or something, but I have no idea whether it's going to work, and it might make things worse.

I might post this in the Tate & Yoko thread to see if Alex (I think that's his name?) has any input.

Thanks in advance.

Before you do, you might want to watch this video: http://hypebeast.com/2013/1/kiza-babzani-and-andrew-chen-dispel-denim-rumors

hey all, been here for a while now. I bought a pair of N&F weird guys. the size at the waist is a little big but they fit tight in the crotch and thigh area. they taper very well also. I do lift weights and have bigger thighs than most of the pics i see on SWD. Is there any fit or brands of denim that is more suited to guys with bigger thighs?

Thanks, What's the general consensus on initial soaking - to get in the tub with them on, or just turn them inside out and put some weights on them to submerge them?

I plan to hang dry after soaking, will they be very stiff and crinkly though? That's how I've noticed some of my non-raw denim gets if it hang dries.

Try not to over think it. Fill your tub with hot water, turn them inside out, let them soak for 30, and hang dry afterwards. It'll all be okay.

Any Wings & Horns experts?

I picked up a pair from a UK clearance site, guessing they're FW/11/12 stock.

13.5 oz White Oak cone mills 1968 Indigo selvedge Straight fits.

The top block fits pretty well as is, but the 35" inseam is way too long. I'm happy with a small cuff or some stacking, but will probably get them hemmed.

Are these sanforized? Can I expect shrinkage?

I have two pairs. They are sanforized but expect the typical shrinkage of maybe .75 - 1" in the inseam

Thanks. I'll give them a soak before thinking about hemming.

I picked up some 34/31" 1944 LVCs in "rough rinse," whatever that is. It's STF. Out of ignorance, I bought my size rather than size up, which I believe is the standard protocol for STF. I have a 35" natural waist, and my dress pants are all 35" when measured. My jeans (nothing selvege or fancy) are all tagged 34 and, in fact, measure exactly that. I havn't received the LVCs yet, so I don't know what they measure, but I'll need them to be what they're tagged at, 34.

What can/should I do with the jeans that will minimize shrinkage?

Even a cold wash will shrink them. The only thing I can think of is dry cleaning.

Looking for a pair of denim that fit like APC NS but with a higher rise. Doesn't need to be raw denim, but can be. Should be <$200.

Suggestions?
