First five numbers on levi's tag are fit i.e. 00501 is 501, last four are style.

I think you're right. I remember reading an article from a few years back. It identified the (then) new XX line, which was meant as some kind of premium thing. So, yeah, probably partly the denim. Like I mentioned too, the fade I got on these was pretty cool, considering the price and stuff.

Thanks for confirming about the number. I think I'm just going to be forever with out another pair ;_;

Thoughts on upgrading from Cheap Monday's 'tight' line of jeans, to something of better quality? I'm after some pretty skinny jeans, with a pretty small leg opening.

I am trying to build a small collection of versatile, high-quality jeans to wear to my casual office and elsewhere. I am not skinny or fat but athletic, with wide shoulders, no ass, and muscular thighs and calves. I'm roughly 5'8" and 160 lbs.

Right now, my collection consists of the following:

One pair APC NS (tagged 29). These look good, fit well through the leg, and are my favorite.

One pair Naked & Famous Weird Guy (tagged 30). The rise is uncomfortably low, waist is too stretched, thighs flare, knees bag, and calves are barely wide enough. I'm wearing them now and may put them up for sale after I get home. They just don't seem to work with my body type because the waist/thigh to calf ratio does not work.

One pair Acne Mic. Kind of meh but they look decent when cuffed with boots. Otherwise, the ankles flare too much for me.

One pair Acne Moc. Too slouchy a silhouette for my taste but OK when wearing a hoodie and sneakers, I guess.

A couple pair of cheap Levi's 501 beaters. They're alright but the rise is too high and from the knee down is too wide for my preference.

So, any advice? Stick with APC NS (seems boring). I've also been intrigued by the Naked & Famous Slim Guy and Roy straight cut, though I haven't tried either of them on or seen either in person. Might either of these work?

Any other suggestions?

check out 3sixteen denim.  the SL line is cut almost identical to the APC NS.

plus the shadow denim is awesome.  i get compliments almost every time i wear them.

apc ps

Pure Blue Japan  probably the 011 or 013 cut

flat head bsps sized down might be skinny enough if you can even size down in them

Dior 17.5cm or 19cm cut

That's all that I can think of that has a real skinny cut.

Naked and Famous is coming out with a super skinny cut around january. Just measure your jeans and compare to size charts on the web.

Cheers for that. I've looked at those you've mentioned and all seem to have leg openings that I find too wide.

Nudie Tight Long John's and High Kai's seem to match up on some measurements I did of my current jeans. I see Nudie isn't really a renowned brand on the internet, plenty of people saying you can find better for that price range. Thoughts?

I bought these two pairs. The first two pictures are slim straight fit and the second two are standard straight fit.

I never thought of myself as a slim fit kind of guy, but I think the first pair fits better. The second pair seems too baggy. I'm also not wild about the color or the horizontal lines faded into the front of the thighs in the second pair (I'm sure there's a term for that, but I don't know it).

Please let me know what you think. Any feedback on the jeans or anything else would be greatly appreciated.

The first pair is definitely better. Is it 514? You might be able to even size down one. Don't buy washed jeans unless the wash is really good, stick to indigo like the first pair.

I recently bought a couple of CoH jeans; 1 black and 1 cord. Both are extremely soft and comfortable.

Don't think I've handled them but they're whats considered "mall brand" around here. The retail on them is pretty high so chances are you can get a better fit/quality for same money or less.

Don't know what a "regular normal color" is. I think you mean non-faded/washed, generally these are accepted as business [denim]casual.

You're right on the money. Yes it's 514, and I realized yesterday that I should go one inch smaller in the waist. I'm really surprised and impressed that you could tell that from a couple of pictures.

Hey all,

On my pair of raw jeans, when I stand straight the knee bunches forward and touches my leg BUT right beneath my knee. It's really annoying. Is this common with raw denim or ....?

This is when I am standing straight. You can see the denim come to a peak toward the front of just beneath my knee

700

700

What would help with this? Time? Soaking?

I had something similar in a way. This was the collar on my jacket.
The ends of the collar were curled up.
I moistened the area only & used clothes pins to secure & used a hair dryer.
After several attempts..it worked. The collar stays down now.
I would only wet the area that needs to be reduced instead & try the hair dryer .
I only soak the whole jeans in hot water when I want total shrinkage. I always
buy larger sizes so I can modify to the way I like them to fit.
I never buy jeans that fit perfect @ the store because after the first wash even
with cold water & left to dry , not the dryer..they will shrink…but you probably
know this...biggrin.gif

Common with raws. It's from the knee forming, you will learn to embrace it smile.gif

Anybody know of any longer rise jeans (roughly 12") (not Levi's) with a slightly tapered leg. (Similar to Nudie Hank Rey - fit was great, orange stitching wasn't)

12'' rise sounds like drop crotch territory. Somet 030 and 031 aren't quite 12'' but are pretty long rise and tapered.
