Also, a pair of jeans like this with similar requirements (raw or otherwise)? I really like the color and fading. They're Levis Made and Crafted for $196 but I can't find that specific jean anywhere.

My first pair of rawdenims is Wings + Horns raw slim fit and is really skinny around the thighs and down to the legs. I am 5'7'' and 120 lbs and wear 28 and the jeans fit me perfectly.

I'm 5'11 and 155. Also in a 28. I'm not sure how I should feel about that...

Those look perfect but they don't have them in my size and they're the only retailer I can find that has Wings + Horns raw in stock :/

Anybody know where I can get a pair of jeans like this? I really like that really vibrant blue with the fading, I also like the skinny fit.

These are from Nudie but the only place I can get them is directly from their website and I'd like to avoid having to pay duties (I'm in the US).

Oh, thanks! That last one actually has my size.

Still looking for some alternatives to the jeans in the pic.

Hey guys I just got my first pair of Naked & Famous jeans... my first pair of raw denim jeans as well biggrin.gif. Slim guy indigo broken twill. Bought online and they fit perfect!

Anyway... I'm planning on wearing them out and to casual days at the office - I'm not quite into the 'stacked' look and just want a medium break.

My question is --- do I need to do anything before getting them hemmed? Like, will the length shrink at some point? Should I soak them in the tub or what have you before taking them to the tailor?

the length will shrink a little as the honeycombs behind the knees settle in (about .5-1 inch). They'll also shrink about an inch (maybe less) after the first wash...but also remember they'll sag a little lower after some wear. You should be ok if you leave enough material to be able to make a 1 inch cuff with just a little break. Enjoy your first raws smile.gif

Do a hot soak with a decent amount of agitation to make sure you get all the shrinkage out then tailor them.

In a related note, I have a question of my own.  I've been cuffing my pair of raw denimz on and off for about a month now and have decided I'd rather wear them uncuffed.  However, from the cuffing the jeans have a straight horizontal line in them about an inch above the cuff.  It's not that noticeable right now but I'm wondering when they fade am I going to be stuck with a faded horizontal line on my shin?  Anyone with experience?  Remedies?

Unless it's a line of embedded dirt, it'll be permanent. You can minimize it by wearing them stacked to try to break up the line a bit, but it's probably indigo loss and that won't go away.

Just bought some raw denim, Uniqlo MIJ slim fit jeans.

So far I really can't get into fades. I subscribe to Rawr Denim and every Friday some "sick fades" get tossed into my feed and I think I prefer a cleaner, more uniform look for my denim.

Anyway, the jeans are maybe 8" longer than I'm used to wearing, so I definitely need to get them hemmed. What I'm thinking is to do a (cold? warm?) wash in a washing machine with Woolite and then hang dry. I'm hoping this will remove some of the stiffness and shrink the jeans a bit so I can safely get them hemmed.

Is this a good idea? Should I not use a washing machine? Some other method of drying? No woolite? These are my first pair of raw denim and while I'm eager to start wearing them I also want to do this right (though arguably the "right way" is to ensure sick fades).

Any thoughts?

You're overthinking it. Wear. Wash when needed.

Also, how tall are you? Aren't Uniqlo jeans only a 34 inch inseam? You need a 26-27 inch inseam?

5' 8", but I compared with my shortened Levis and they're about 8" longer. I figure if I want to cuff them I'll probably hem around 6-7"

You don't have to soak them first. Just wear them for several days maybe a few weeks so the combs will form and take up a little bit of the denim then hem. I hemmed my deep indigos before ever soaking and they might have shrunk .25" to .5" at most

I've tried out the whole modern skinny cut jeans thing and decided that it's not for me. I'm looking to buy quality raw selvedge traditional slim/straight style jeans. I have a budget of around $250, but of course have no problem spending less (or a bit more if it makes a big difference).

My current top pick is something like the Levi's Vintage Clothing 1947 Shrink-to-Fit 501. Anyone have any other recommendations/suggestions? I'm pretty lean, about 6'2" (188cm) and 175lb (80kg), but have a semi-large/athletic rear end and thighs due to sports. Thanks.

Look at the Rogue Territory Stanton. It will be a bit lower rise, but still maintain that slim-straight profile w/o being "skinny" Plus you'll be under budget.
