Does anyone know of a brand making quality, red selvedge denim (other than Naken & Famous)? I vaguely remember a poster selling a pair of japanese denim a couple of months ago but it looks like the posting has since been removed.

Thanks.

I picked up a pair of Momotaro 0201 slim straight leg jeans on sale TTS but am new to the raw denim game.  Before I soak them, and ruin some of their resale value, what kind of fit should I be looking for and what should I be wary of (like them being supertight in the thigh before shrinking).  I would like to avoid the skinny jeans look in favor of a slim straight leg look.  They are partially sanforized but apparently still have some significant shrinkage after a hot wash.

Also, I have heard that if they are already a little tight just do a cold wash or even to get in the tub with them, but because I need to get them hemmed because I'm 5' 8", I should definitely hot soak them, right?  I'm excited for these to come in the mail, I've been reading around the Momotaro thread and these look like they are top top quality denim.

Thanks for any help.

I just got a pair of levis 505 - they are the made in usa, leather levis tag, cone mills variety from Nordstom - exactly like these on ebay. Are these sanforized or will they shrink quite a bit?

Experienced denim owner here looking for some expert opinions - I have a lot of quality denim (Fullcount, Imperial, RO, Dior) and I wear my Dior 21cm's the most but they're starting to get too tight after exercising regularly (nothing crazy, just cycling, but they're a very slim cut to begin with). Here's what I need:

- Slim fit but not too tight in the calves - the Imperial Duke's I have are perfect (7.75" leg opening on a size 30)
- 36"+ inseam
- *Light or medium weight denim* - part of what makes Dior denim so nice IMO is that it's not too thick and heavy, so it's more comfortable to move around in. I also live in LA so I need something I can wear during warm weather.

Here's an older pic of my Imperials which fit great.. just wish they came in a denim that wasn't quite so heavy.

Any ideas, experts?

I just picked up a pair of Spurr pipe leg from Gilt recently and they're almost there.. a bit too slim in the calf and inseam is only ~35", but damn the denim is nice! Thin, light weight denim, but a strong tight weave, reminds me a lot of Dior.

You will love them, assuming sizing is worked out. Expect maybe 2" +/- in the waist, up to .75 in the thigh, and the inseam at the very most to come up 3 inches. It's usually not that much in any direction, but the disclaimer is worth it. They aren't sanforized, so they will shrink fairly dramatically from fresh out of the box.

In most cases, the waistband shrinkage won't be a massive problem, because as you wear them they will tend to stretch back out - sometimes even to presoak size. The thigh however is the trouble spot. Once that goes down, it's very difficult to get it stretched back out. I would recommend posting a "before soak" fit in the dedicated Momotaro thread, and then holding off on soaking them until you get a bit of feedback from forum regulars who have experience with the brand. Once you get the answer, follow from there.

The 201 in general is considered a "roomier" fit by most on the boards. If you've purchased "true-to-size", then you should be fine. But, for safety's sake, post a before-soak photo and wait for feedback. Experienced users will seldom steer you wrong.

Hope this helps!

Exactly the advice I was looking for.  Thanks so much!

Can someone give me their opinions of which is a better fit me?  I just got a pair of APC NC and I intend to leave them "raw" and wash them as few times as possible (and by wash I mean soak).  I also have a pair of NS that I've machined washed several times and they fit very differently. I think they both fit well but for different purposes.  What are your opinions?

Thanks man, I was looking at them, seems like that might fit the bill!

Recently bought an LVC jacket, the body fits fine but the sleeves are quite baggy. I want to soak but am worried about indigo loss and possibly shrinking the rest of the jacket too much. I'm fairly sure that LVC type III's are unsanforized. Anyone have any experience soaking one?

Although I wouldn't wear it buttoned up, it is a good show of the fit.

HELP

I have been trying to locate another pair or pairs of my favorite jeans of all time. H&M Drain Drop (drop crotch) skinny jeans.

They by far have the greatest fit out of the dozens of brands and fits I have tried. They were very slim but not skin tight, they had just the right amount of stretch and best of all, the drop crotch was perfectly comfortable. They were only made last spring I believe, and won't be coming back. Unfortunately I only bought two pairs.

Does anyone know where I could find similar, skinny drop crotch jeans that are at least 1% elastic/spandex? I can't find any of the h&m jeans anywhere, including eBay.

I have looked at Topman but I didn't see any that weren't 100% cotton.

Please advise, thanks!
