I wouldn't go for Nudie unless that's the only thing you can find that fits you. The models you mentioned are slim straight, except for Nudie which has a more relaxed top block. If you're looking at the lower end of jeans then I'm not sure where you added a brand like Eternal into the mix, although it is a good brand. There's a thread for under $200 jeans that you can look at, but it comes down to if you're looking to pay retail vs ebay, what fit thinks works best for you, etc. Best bet is to measure out jeans you have now and compare them to posted measurements of the models you listed.

It's also impossible to tell you which size to get because sizing completely varies from brand to brand. Worry about nailing down a specific model first.

Measurements don't stay static across the board, but if you're looking for higher rise jeans then you need to look at older brands or repros like LVC, Lee 101z/101b, Sugarcane, etc.

To be clear, a large ass requires a higher rise to not be tight in the crotch, is that correct?

Sort of... Front rise is nearly irrelevant, what will be important there is the back rise, the waist/how you want to wear it, and the amount of room in the seat/thigh.  So you can wear a low-rise jean slung really low on your hips and it will look fine but the same jean would be far too tight worn higher, or you can just get a pair with a roomier thigh and higher rear rise.

Not necessarily. Something like Naked & Famous Weird Guys don't really work for my fat bum since it's too tight on a size 32 in the butt area but 33/34 give me major diaper butt. However RRLs low straights fit great even though rise isn't that high

I found a pair of BNWOT hecho en Mexico 501s for $20 at a thrift sale a few months ago. I think they retailed at $98 whereas the MiUSA ones are $178.
(If they're really vintage, and a size 32, I'll take them off your hands for %10 over what you paid...just trying to help here...)smile.gif

the tag says made in usa, they are 34x30. here is a picture:

Ya know, I think you may be right. Apparently I can't tell the difference between jeans and cords. But yeah, they're going away soon.

Very soon

That's a pretty good find. Probably LVC judging by what appears to be hidden back rivets, the fact that they're shrink to fit (XX) selvage, and the Big E tag. Who knows which model, though. Could be '47 since it's arguably the most popular model. If you looked at the tag inside, it'd say for sure.

Yea, the arcs on the back pocket is similar to the 1947. But there's a reason why it's so cheap, the inseam is unforgiving 30" and would shrink to 27" after wash/soak. Never wash or turn into shorts...

Usually, the tag reads this: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I'm having a hard time finding STF LVC in a 30 inseam...

I have a tailoring related question. I often see posts about warning against any work done on the waist of jeans. With a pair of Burberry jeans I really like they are a bit to large with a size 30" but a bit too small and ride me in the crotch at size 29". With an experienced tailor is it safe to go with a size 30 and have them slightly adjusted? If so is there a particular tailoring method I should avoid, etc when getting this adjustment? Tailoring is not a strong area for me but my in between frame for my waist often causes me this issue. Thanks!

That 30-inch inseam is odd. I don't believe the $178 MiUSA selvedge comes in 30, at least not listed on the Levi's site. Maybe it was an older release?

A 30-inch inseam for unsanforized denim is insane, as entrero and Whodini pointed out. Hmmm...bootleg? I love a good denim mystery.

Where can I find extra slimfit jeans (online or available in The Netherlands)?

The first recommendation is to pass on the jeans in favor of a pair that fit the way you like. Barring that, you should send them into a denim shop/tailor that has experience in this sort of thing. Barring that, you can take your chances with your local tailor assuming the work you want is minimal.

You won't find it on the Levi's site because the $178 stuff is little e. The details I've pointed out show that this isn't the case. Either this is some random model/version that wasn't mass produced (again, I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a tagged 30" inseam on a STF pair of LVC) or it could even be a Thai fake.
