I have a jean...(The Ultimate Jean Thread For Beginners) - ask questions here. - Page 1109

Gents,

I'm looking to buy a decent pair of jeans to use as an alternative to chinos. I don't mind trousers sitting just below the waist, but I can't stand baggy bottoms on most denims. Can anyone recommend anything which actually fits well in the ass area, sits slightly below the waist and is not bollocks-showing tight? I don't mind tapering the legs myself and I'd prefer it to be washed denim. I've tried non-elastane 511s, but I couldn't fit my (small) backside in them (I'm 32 x 34). Was thinking about Nudies, but they are all raw denim aren't day? Plus all of them have baggy sitting areas and are meant to be worn quite low.

Regards,
dsc.

What about Edwin? Some on sale at Mr. Porter right now. All those you listed are above my budget frown.gif

Also, what about AG?

Edwin is decent at sale price, which you can find fairly often. I'm talking real sale, not inflated retail with a "sale" price. They're definitely a low/mid-tier brand that I wouldn't really recommend people paying more than $150 for unless you're crazy about the fit or details, and even then I'd argue there might be more interesting alternatives.

There are a lot of brands like that that I don't have high opinions of or rarely recommend because at retail they're not worth the sticker (especially if you can get better brands readily on sale) or that even on sale there are better alternatives. There might not be anything wrong with the brand per se but there's nothing that would personally make me pick them over their competitors.

AG is "good" but definitely not in line with this forum's aesthetic.

All those brands I listed can be found on sale or on ebay for the sale price of the brands you're looking at now...

I happen to have really thick thighs and I cannot fit into Diesel etc. My two best fitting pairs of Jeans are G-Stars, one purchased in Spain and one in NY as there are no G-Star stores in Philly. I also have a pair of BB 501 that fit decently but not as great as the G-Stars. Any recommendation for brand.

Looking for something high-end.

If you're anywhere near NYC, check them out and Blue in Green.

Most of the brands at both Self Edge and Blue in Green make at least one cut that fits well for thicker thighs, and almost all of the brands carried by both stores are of high-end quality. You can't go wrong at either store.
