I have a jean...(The Ultimate Jean Thread For Beginners) - ask questions here. - Page 99

Can someone please contrast the fit and other qualities of:
  • KMW 1980
  • Acne Mic
  • Dior 21
  • R&B 15
I'm looking for a slim, dressy upgrade from APC NSs, and these are what I've pulled out of the archives. Thanks.

Gotta ask this again cause I never got an answer the first time. Sorry, I'm not trying to spam or anything.

Stupid question, but anyway...

Are these indigo or black? http://www.revolveclothing.com/Displ...10&c=Crate&d=b

And how's the sizing on Crate? If I'm a 32x32 in RRDS is it safe to say I'm a 32 waist with these jeans?
Thanks!

Hey guys, here's hoping you guys can help me find what I'm looking for.

Basic criteria:

-Dark, clean denim, raw is good.
-An absence of unnatural whiskering or distressing.
I can't take that stuff seriously on anyone else much less myself.
-Has to be available in 29 or 30 waist.
-A straight leg.
Used to wear boot cuts all the time, don't really feel like it anymore.
-A Medium rise.
In short, low rise hurts.
-A slim fit.
This is the trickiest part. I like the fit of the good ole levi's 514 - almost. It's a little bit too baggy on me, especially on the thigh, but I can't make myself go all the way to the 511. Maybe I just need to take that plunge.
-A decent price.
Can't go designer, wouldn't want to if I could, looking to go less than 3 figures.

Basically looking for something that fits close - but respectably - minimalist, and inexpensive - but not cheap.

So am I doomed to buying some 511s and joining the lineup as yet another "hipster doofus"? What about tailoring? Would it be worth it to hunt down those raw 514s and have them tailored close? Would probably have to hem them anyway. Maybe the answer is to get some 511s and wear them until they've loosened up a bit.

Thanks in advance!

If they're raw, then they're indigo. Haven't seen the black version sold in the James for a while since Crate did that special run and cut for Barney's. If you need a black Crate might have an extra pair around the shop although back in May I pretty much only saw the Sallys in black. If it really is the black and not the indigo that you want, pm me and I'll ask Chad what's the deal. The James tends to run pretty TTS but stretch out nicely. If you're used to RRDS then these are going to be a bit slim on you. Not discouraging from getting a pair but they're two different cuts entirely. Going back to stretching, they always try to talk you down a size since I have seen them stretch like crazy but the longer I wear jeans the more I see that it's more about how you wear the pair than the pair itself. If you consider yourself averagely active then stick to the 32.

I wear 33 or 34 for Levi's 501.

After a few wear, the jeans is too large at the tight and knees.

Looks like a skirt !

I need a 501 style cut with less room in the knees and the bottom.

The old 501 (10 years ago) was rather good. The new cut us too large.

What do you suggest ?

Should I iron them? Liquid starch them? Are wrinkle-worn jeans extra fashionable or something?

Thanks,

You should try to iron them. You won't get all of them out no matter how much you iron though. And no, the wrinkles aren't extra fashionable, although i don't really know what you mean by that. Artifical whiskers = bad.

This is a total noob question. I don't keep/store all my raw denim hanging like all separate in form of my stance like in that one crazy photo.
I have to keep them folded up and in a drawer until their next time up in rotation.
I have no room anywhere to keep them hanging anywhere freely.

I notice that of course the folds are acute and can be pressed down heavy with all the other jeans on top sometimes.

Would these folds/acute bends on raw denim (from constant folding at same locations each time I put them away) cause unwanted fading at that bend?

Basically, when I do my first wash 6 mos. later, will there appear fade lines at wanted front hip area, behind knees
AND
At the fold line in an artificial looking one straight line?

Thanks

Noob concern

whodini or PG2G got an opinion on this? thanks

denim loss occurs due to the denim rubbing against itself. Clearly it isn't doing that when it's just sitting folded in a drawer.

folded in a drawer the denim is still pressed tightly against one each other . more jeans on top of them for instance, etc.
the folds are very sharp /acute due to this.

just making sure.

good to see you back though drizz

Start with LA Guy's Top 10 Jeans.

Alternatively, go read Shoe's posts over the last few months as he swan dives from levi 501s down deep into the denim ocean.

anybody know measurements for waist, rise, inseam, thigh, and knee for Dior 19cm and 21cm size 32 and 33? i've read the thread at superfuture and didn't really find anything. do the raw black fit the same as the indigo?
Self Edge has made some limited run jeans with the Dior 19cm and 21cm cuts. The measurements there may serve as a good starting point. The SEXIH01 (Ironheart) was a 21cm cut and the SEXI04 (Imperial) was a 19cm cut.

Also, there are some differences between the MIJ and MII that you may want to take into consideration.
thanks pg. i'll probably be getting the MII because i don't feel like dropping close to 400 on some jeans. i'll probably be getting them in black. but i'm not sure. depends on how well the black fades. well NM. both of those thigh measurements are way too tiny for me.
