Anyone have any recommendations for a slim pair of raw black denim in the $150-200 range?

Check out the 501 thread.

FWIW
The best fit I have achieved with the stfs is to do exactly as levi's suggests
Up one in waist and up 3 in length.

I toss 'em in the wash on warm, then dry on high cotton

They come out pretty tight, but stretch nicely after a few wears.

Can't speak to fades/etc with these, especially when handled the way I do (warm wash, dry)

However, they achieve my favorite fit of any denim I own - and they are cheap! AND, I can cop many different colors.

I'm looking at the following 3 models (because they have higher rises and fuller thighs):

Sugar Cane 1966 (http://blueingreensoho.com/site/inde...mart&Itemid=28)

Fullcount 1101S (http://blueingreensoho.com/site/inde...mart&Itemid=28)

Warehouse 1001XX (http://blueingreensoho.com/site/inde...mart&Itemid=28)

Any thoughts?
1stly, you need to make up your mind as to what kinda fit/cut you're really going for. your short list is all over the spectrum__ ie, 1101 is a ['55 based?] middle straight cut, 1001XX is a '47 repro, & SC is a true '66.

but, based on your cut requirements, "higher rises and fuller thighs" + tapered hems like the Hoyt you mentioned, check out FC 1101s & 0105s

*** BiG still got [the now deadstock] 15.5oz limited prod'n FC x SuFu x BiG 0105C contest pairs. check out the evos [placed 1st & 3rd in the contest, respectively]:

hope HaGa does not mind xposting his fit pic.

Hello there,

I've been a quiet reader these last few weeks trying to learn what I can about your guys' great style and how to wear it and finally decided to post my first post!

Sorry I actually don't know nearly as much as some of you guys do about style because my city thinks baggy Sean Jean jeans and Timbs are cool.. and I get weird looks wearing my J-Crew work clothes (I work there).

I have a question and I know some of you guys are tired of new posters just feeling entitled to your style answers and I'm just really looking for honest help. (I'm sorry if its been posted and I've overlooked it)

I'm trying to find something in RAW Denim that is not so trendy as it would be timeless (I prefer more classic vintage looks so something that will look good and fade a lot to give that great character). Something slightly skinny but with a regular leg opening. Price is not an option as I am getting a high paying job this next month and want one pair of extremely nice denim as a congratulations gift to myself.

I don't own a ton of high end jeans just a lot of J-Crew ones that are so-so and a couple of selvege J-Crew 501s.

I wear 33/32 (34 if I want a cuff).. and I don't know too much about the shrinkage in specific brands. I would GREATLY appreciate if you can show me a pair that I can buy online as my city and locale have 0 good stores around it (Toledo, Ohio) and I will be working around 50-60+ hours a week shortly.

Thank You for all the help you can give me.. I greatly appreciate you going out of your way to help a newb =)

If you want something that will be timeless, I would stick to a cut reasonably similar to your 501s. IMO, skinny jeans are a trend that will come and go. For example, 10 years ago, carpenter jeans and very loose cuts were the most popular, and no heterosexual male would have been caught dead in skinny jeans. Nowadays, skinny jeans are in, and you can't give away carpenter jeans or baggy cuts. But anyone could pull off a 501 10 years ago, and they can still do it now.

Yeah I guess I contradicted myself in my own question haha. I have some timeless pairs in having several 501s and having several Selvege 501s. I guess I just want a more fitted pair of RAW ones that are more of a RAW Japanese pair that I can get some great aging in. I clicked a link to someone's website on here about their Samurai's and thought they looked pretty good. Not sure about cost or where they can be acquired though.

Hey guys, please how's the fit of APC Petit Standard when compared to Levis's 511? I'd like a similar fit as the 511s, but don't know, whether the APCs PS would be ok..

APC PS are similar to 511. I found APC PS in size 28 nearly identical measurements to 511s in size 30.

If you are interested in Samurais, I would probably recommend the 710 cut if you want something fitted but not too slim. Be aware that that cut is a little bit tapered, so if you want a straighter leg, I would look at the 500 cut, which is a little bit roomier as well.

Only one store in the US carries Samurai: blueingreensoho.com

ill try to get better pictures, but here are my weirdguys they are 27 waist which is the smallest i was able to find, and the top button wasn't hard to do (im having difficulty with the other buttons, everything is so stiff). i think i obviously need a hem, but ill give them a soak first. i want to try stacking and i probably won't ever cuff.
