I have a jean...(The Ultimate Jean Thread For Beginners) - ask questions here. - Page 918

Alright. A question for y'all for a raw denim noob.

So I just got a pair of used (but pretty much unworn) PS in size 27. When I tried them on at the store (new) I could hardly fit into them but with these (which were worn about 4 times only and never washed/soaked) the waist and rise are huge on me. They fit perfectly in the thigh and calf though.

So what am I suppose to do at this point? Cold soak them? Hot soak them? Take them to the tailor and get the waist taken in? These are 1-2 sizes down from my normal waist size so I do not think I could go down to a 26. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

And in the pursuit of my first pair of nice denim, found a pair of Nudie Easy Emils in 31 that fit utterly brilliant through the legs, but of course the waist was two inches too big... So if anyone knows a good, moderately priced dark indigo jean with measurements like this, but a smaller waist and a longer inseam: Waist: 33 Thigh: 11.8 Leg Opening: 8 Inseam: 34

Skull 5010 or Flathead 310 come to mind

I prefer the compound form:
KMW 1950 or 2010 in 32 or 33

I am tired of the boot cut stuff and tried on some 511's and love them. Now looking for some similar size selvedge

Levi's Matchstick Kaihara selvedge http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp...=selvedge&sr=1

They go on sale every now and then for about 30% off.

I have a pair and love them. I cannot compare them to high(er) end denim as these are the highest end denim I own. I also own some mid range 511 models and the Kaiharas are a similar (not exact) cut. If you like the 511, you'll love the Kaihara. They're tight at first but stretch out just fine. If you go with your normal 511 size, you'll find the Kaiharas are sized similar (after a day or two of breaking them in).

Possible deal breaker: the back pocket signature Levi's arches are painted on. This is a reference to WWII thread rations. Some people hate this as they think it looks cheap, others will find it an interesting conversational piece.

I receive compliments from both sexes every time I wear them.

If the 27 waist is too big, you can go down to a 26. The thigh will stretch.

...the rise is huge on you? context lists a 27 rise as 8.5...don't see how the rise could possibly be big unless you're under 5 feet tall.

Local store has started stocking Nudies and I tried on some Slim Jims - fitted pretty well from the knee up, but I was hoping for more taper from the knee down. I don't really want to go much slimmer in the thigh or lower rise. Do any of their models have basically the same top but more taper?

Are the Nudie Grim Tims similar in fit to 511s?

If you are going to keep them, probably the only thing that you can do at this point to make them fit better is to get them tailored. Hot soaking might shrink them down a little bit, but they'll stretch back out to where they are now pretty easily and pretty fast.

With that being said (and or warned) here's my question-- I just recently purchased my first pair of skinny sleveged jeans from GAP (got them for 40 USD). I got them in a length size of 30 so my cuffs are pretty small, but as of late I've noticed that the cuffs have began to flare out and as a result look a bit goofy. Solutions?

This happens to me to. I iron out my cuffs sometimes to make them stay flat but when you move it around a lot the cuff is bound to get looser.

I'm looking into a pair of APC New Standards in a 36...Are they too slim for someone who has big calves and thighs? I bought a pair of Rescue's in a 36 last year and am looking for a more tapered fit. Any help would be great. Thanks.
