i sense you haven't seen the last noobish question from me yet...

i think i like the n&f weird guys a lot. i'm thinking about getting the 15oz variant. what size would you guys recommend for a slim/snug fit? i think i am a 30-31" true waist and usually wear size 29 in most brands.

thank you all.

Hi

In BIG measurements, do they measure the tights from the crotch seam or the whole tight laying flat? it looks that way in the picture but I am not sure

Cheers.

Hey guys!

Simple question for anyone....

Do all jeans stretch and get bigger? I am asking because I am going to be buying a pair of jeans and need to know for sizing issues.

Thanks.

They measure the thigh at the level of the crotch seam, but they measure the entire width of the thigh there parallel to the angle of the waist band.

Pretty much. Some jeans stretch a lot less than others, but they all can stretch at least a little.

Quick Question: I was looking into buying the Unbranded Indigo Skinny 14.5oz Selvedge Jean from UO but I'm not too sure on the sizing? I am usually a 34/34 in skinnys. Do you think I should stay the same or go up in sizes? Thanks

Thoughts on Levis Kaihara Selvedge?

Has anyone else ever seen fading along the lines of the selvage in their jeans? I swear my jeans are beginning to fade vertically along the seams. Regardless, it seems (ha, sorry) like pretty weird shit.

That's normal, I see it a lot. I've experienced it before, too, more so on pairs of jeans that I washed more.

I had a post about it a page or two back (depending on how many posts you have per page) that I'm too lazy to search for. Just click back a few pages and look for it.

It's called traintracking, and it happens on pretty much any selvage jeans because of the way the extra material at the outseam creates a double layer. As cw said, it's totally normal.

Quick, seemingly dumb question...

What are currently the best regarded non-raw, "dressier" denim brands right now?

For the past few years, I have been buying raw selvege (RRL, Jean Shop, 3sixteen, etc) and wearing them down myself. I will continue to do so.

However, many of these jeans have thicker denim. The denim breaks in with wear (particularly in the top block), but often times I feel like the jeans don't have the same "dressy" feel as some of the more "designer" brand jeans I used to have. Particularly below the knee. I want to add one or two of the "dressier" denim to the rotation.

My first pair of "premium denim" I bought was a pair of Diesels back in 2003 while in college. The quality of this brand isn't regarded now, but back in the 2003, the look I had (buttondown shirt, loafers, occasional blazer, "designer" denim) was pretty good and worked well.

The question is what brands on denim now are doing what Diesel used to do (but with higher quality construction)? I'm basically looking for a thinner, softer denim (with or without wash) that could be paired with slim shows, blazers, button down shirts, etc. Is it the really high end brands like Dior and what not? How about Uniqlo?

i went down one size in my 005s but i could have gone down 2 w/o a problem.

take a look at the measurements on the big site (pay special attention to the upper-thigh and front-rise measurements) and go from there.

Thanks. What should I be looking at about the upper thighs? They're wider than my APCs, but do they is there something different about them? Also, I know the jeans are low rise, but is that the only thing to need to be aware of?

hey. i just wanted to make sure the jean would still fit in the upper-thigh because you usually size down 1 or 2 in somet's (depending on where you will wear them and how often you wash, etc.) ... so i just wanted to make sure you didnt make a mistake. yes, somet's are a true low-rise but if done right will be one of the best fitting jeans you will have. other then the upper-thigh and double-checking to make sure the rise will be okay in your size there isnt anything else i can think of. good luck and post pics!
