Yes and not much. I don't have a habit of presoaking sanforized jeans and I've never had any dramatic changes in inseam after the first wash. Sanforized jeans can shrink 3-5% so you might want to give yourself a little room if you hem them just in case.

I recently bought a pair of Gap's selvedge denim and now I'm hooked and looking to get some "real" denim. I would like to keep the purchase below $200.

The Gap authentic fit is a very good fit on me, perhaps a little tight in the thighs. I'm 5'10", 165 but have 23" thighs so I can't go for anything too skinny. I bought the jeans in a 30/32 and it fits pretty well, especially the length.

I'm looking for a raw selvedge with an inseam of around the Gap's. They could be a little thinner in the lower leg but I think all in all the fit on these is nice, I just want something that's higher quality.

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

Just do what everyone else does and start of with APC...

This whole "start with APC" theme has started bothering me--they're maybe the trickiest brand to size; wouldn't it be easier to start with a simpler, cheaper brand like Naked & Famous or Epaulet?

It's like somebody decided APC should be the intro brand because they wanted as few people as possible wearing good jeans.

TBH, the APC push really started about two or three years ago when there wasn't anything else comparable at that price range. While the cut works for a lot of people, it's an outdated recommendation for people who want "good" denim below $200.

@ defan, how about Rogue Territory or Left Field? Those both seem like good sub-$200 options that are going to be more interesting than APC or Naked & Famous, and it seems like there could be more of both on the forum.

There's also this whole thread: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=157881

Thanks for the info, I'll check out the thread. I am definitely looking for something a little more interesting.

Rogue Territory= women jeans Left Field= innovative/hideous coin pocket APC= useless/shallow pockets, sizing issues N&F= questionable construction quality

I have a pair of white NDG denim and I need some basic information about taking care of them. How should I was them? Should I treat them like Indigo Raw Denim or do I need to use a specific product / method etc. What products does everyone use?
Who knows what look you're after. For the homeless look then treat them like raw denim.

What is your opinion on Epaults?

And why are RTs "womens jeans"?
Women love 37" inseams, right?

For reals, though, I was just looking at their stuff, and it looks like they have a straight leg, a slimmed-down '47 cut, and a skinny cut (which was actually the one I liked), but I utterly failed to see anything they made that was stretchy and studded with rhinestones.

edit: Also, I'm looking at the coin pocket on the 514s I'm wearing and the coin pocket on this: http://www.blueowl.us/scripts/psp/VB...il&SKU=7999750

Not sure I see the difference.

(Not trying to turn this into a or anything; I just think those are decent brands in the poster's price range that are worth a look)

Thanks for pointing out the Left Field, I've only seen the "hideous" version. As for Rogue Territory, I don't see how many men can fit their junk in a 8-8.5" rise jeans.

Understandable mistake. The rise measurements don't include the waistband for some reason. Add 1.5" for the actual rise.
