Some RRL slim questions: How much will the raw Japanese selvage stretch? How low is the rise?

It'd help if you told us what model specifically you're talking about and which generation. If you don't know the generation, where are you getting them from? Depending on the model, rise can be anywhere from 9.5"-10.5". They tend to stretch out 1-2" max. After several washes, one of my pairs is closer to how it was originally.

It's a pair on ebay. I think they're a much older generation, because the tag sized is nowhere near the actual waist size. The back pockets are plain, and there is an "RRL" stitching on the coin pocket. They're labeled as a 'slim fit'. The real concern I have is that the button fly only seems to have 3 buttons - and the front rise is listed as 8.5".

Sounds like the slim boot. Depending on what size you're getting, yeah, the rise can be that low.

Hmm.. yea not worth it. Just will get some KMW 1980s instead.

Hm, considering Context is having a big sale, how do Imperial Dukes stack up to KMW 1980s?
Dukes have a 37.5" inseam if that matters to you. The KMW 1980s come in 32" and 34" inseam. I've only had first hand experience wearing the 1980s and I can say that it is a great cut. The Dukes get a lot more stacking though if that's your thing.

on that note, imperial kings, for a slim but not ball-crushing fit... tagged size is vanity sized +1, so size down 1?

I like stacking, but I'd probably get the Dukes hemmed. I already have a pair of very fitted Nudies and am looking for something that is more of a slim-straight cut.

A specific but multi-part jeans question: I want two pairs, slim, fitting like a size 29 new standard. I'm looking for an overdyed black pair and a dark indigo pair that will really hold its colour - doesn't have to be raw. Brands available on heavy discount or in the UK preferred, it's bad enough paying for expensive jeans without import duty and shipping... A straight iron heart in 31 might do for the indigo - but I don't know what that weight of denim would be like and they're too pricy at £160.

I've been browsing some different stores online, trying to decide what my first pair of "real" jeans should be. I've got a pair of Levi's 501s (the preshrunk ones, unfortunately) right now, and I like the fit on them. They're 36x32 (I'm a pretty big guy, 6'5" 240ish), and I'm trying to figure out which style would be closest to the 501. It looks like I'd probably be happiest with an Average Joe or Even Steven by Nudie, but after browsing a few online stores, I've seen some models make each of them look baggy as hell, or a more regular fit. I found one model that looked like he was kind of built like me, and the Average Joe looked like it fit him like my 501s fit me. I've been having trouble finding a comprehensive size chart that I could match my 501s against to find a similar one. I'm not exactly locked into Nudie (though I do like the look of their stitching, especially the back pockets), but can anyone give me a rundown of which styles would be most similar to the 501? I'm hoping to stick around the price range of the Average Joe/Even Steven - around 165-185 USD.

i need some suggestions on a nice pair of denim im 6'5" so im looking for a very long inseam like 38+ and 8.5" leg openings i've already taken a look at imperial kings and dry bones red-d any other suggestions are greatly appreciated

Dior should be 37.5 or 38 on the inseam. The 21cm should be around the leg opening you're looking for, give or take (and depending on your waist).
