If you dont mind...please point out some of the main similarities I'd encounter with SL100 vs LVC '47?

How would the cone mills denim compare with the Kaihara?

Honest questions, thanks

Cone makes all kinds of different denim, Kaihara makes all kinds of different denim. That said, the color and hand between the SL100 and the '47 LVC is really similar to me. It's the same flat blueberry. I mean, it isn't a question of quality, I just think of it as a bit generic. You can google up photos of worn in '47 LVC and compare them to what you have; you'll see what I mean.

There's no real way to generalize a mill and compare it to another, they both make a range of weights and colors. If anything, I'd say one of the main differences is that Kaihara tends to be more experimental in their denim but it could just be their customers are more open to ordering that kind of fabric. I wouldn't specifically look for a mill's denim, just look at the denim itself and compare it to other denim

^^^ That's all well and good but I've actually seen SL100s and '47 LVCs in person.

Was that to me? I have too, are we part of a super special club? Edit: oh, and by the way that previous post was to the guy above you, just didn't feel like using a quote.

Thanks for your responses. What are some denims that one might find more interesting coming off the "flat blueberry" of 3sixteen's Kaihara? Remember, I'm just trying to dig a little deeper here and step up into the next tier.

One of my concerns is the cut also. At the end of the day I'll take a premium fitting jean over some special rainbow woven joint that fits like a hospital scrub, y'know?

Thanks...I understand this. I was just curious what similarities the two specific models would have in common as far as materials go...apparently more than I thought.

Why not try Sugarcane 1947s? To be honest, I don't know too much about the goings on in the denim world recently and I don't really know '47 cuts so I can't be extremely helpful here. But there are lots of quirks to SC denim. I'd suggest taking a pair of jeans that fits you well (or at least fits you), measure them, alter the measurements as needed (ie: if you want a slimmer jean then decrease the leg measurements or add more taper or whatever what have you), and then hit the web (Self Edge and Blue in Green being most helpful if you're looking for the higher end artisan denim) and find something with comparable measurements. It's the next best thing to actually going into the stores and trying things on

Thanks Kit. I live close enough to the city that I have zero reason to not go check some stuff out in person...did want to get some ideas to start batting around a little so I dont show up like "I WANT JEENS" and end up getting pressured into something I'm not so sure about.

Go and ask away, the guys at both SE and BiG know their stuff

What do you think of the fit on my new Nudie Slim Jim Organic Dry Ecru Embo jeans? I feel that they fit pretty perfectly, but in pics they seem to look tight.
