I have a jean...(The Ultimate Jean Thread For Beginners) - ask questions here. - Page 783

I'd say Edwin quality is kind of all over the place. They make a ton of crappy, pre-faded, mall department store jeans, but they have a few models that are worthwhile. I'd probably put them in the same category as Nudie. And I think they still make repro models for Lee and Wrangler.

Ok, this is my first post here and I'm probably going to be flamed to no end, but whatever.

So I'm interested in getting my first set of raw/dry jeans. But the whole "don't wash them for 6 months" thing worries me a little bit. Honestly, do they start to smell after a while? I don't want to be "that guy" with the smelly pants. Want can you do to get rid of the smell? I've read fabreeze, but that seems to just cover up the smell. What happens if you wash them after 4 or 2 months? Does it ruin the jeans.

Finally, will I get a decent amount of fades/honeycombs/wiskers out of a set of levis 511 rigid? I know they are not "real" raw/dry jeans, but I am on a budget and I can get a set for like $30. Plus, I already know they fit because I have some other pairs that are not rigid.

Thanks, sorry if this is a total newb post...

7" would look good. I think you're about my size as well (though I have more of a leg taper).

I wear a size 32-34 depending on the cut. I have a 32" waist and 40" hips ( ). But I am narrow from the front. I have APC NSs in size 33 that I had tapered down to 7.75" and they're still too wide. I have some new APC NCs in 34 that are 8"... I will get them tapered down to 7" below the calf before I start wearing them. I need stacks

They have always made low- to mid-market jeans.

Not Wrangler Blue Bells any more.
Their "Vintage Collection" is worth checking out.

Wash when dirty. Don't expect miracles from $30 jeans.

Lol, obviously I shower and I'm not a smelly person in general. But if I would just expect them to start smelling like body odor due to sweat, oils, etc. What is the absolute minimum amount of time you should wear them before washing (I know that 6mo is recommend, but can you go less?).

Sorry if you missed the part where I wrote WASH WHEN DIRTY.

My first pair of raws were APC NSs. Since then I've gone through Dior 21cms and Rag & Bone RB15s. I feel like I enjoyed the NSs better (although maybe it was just because it was my first time), so I am going to get another pair unless someone has a great reason why I shouldn't?

Can anyone comment on the quality of Spurr's and Vince's jeans?

Additionally, are they vanity sized? and should I size down for their raws like I do for my APC's?

Depends on the Spurrs. Overall, the denim's good but their non-selvage stuff is kind of average, especially at that price. Depending on what you get, I'd either stay true if washed or down one if raw. Vince is just... meh. Big time meh.

Thanks for the answers. The pair i'm looking at is their black raw's. Are those selvaged?

What happened to your original pair?

Are these too baggy/should I get them hemmed? I recall them fitting well at some point but either they stretched or my tastes have changed. I feel like the inseam might be too long. Opinions?

No offense but if you don't know what you're talking about (re: "selvaged") then I wouldn't worry so much about what you're getting as much as I would the fit. I don't remember Simon having anything selvage this season except for indigo but who knows which season is any of the gilt stuff.

If the jeans are dirty, washing/soaking/dampening/wetting/misting/etc. should be at the top of your priority list.
