I have a jean...(The Ultimate Jean Thread For Beginners) - ask questions here. - Page 779

Hey guys,
So I've had my organic weird guys for 15 days now and have been wearing only these jeans every day since I got them. They did stretch in the thigs and stuff very quickly, but the waist size seems to be very stubborn! Its been the exact same measurement since I bought it. Anyone know how long they actually take to stretch?? I was under the impression that they would have stretched out by now...

And sorry,. couldn't get pics today (forgot my camera at home). Will try to get some tomorrow or the day after.

They're just not gonna do it for you, bud. Even if you soak them, they're still gonna stretch out to even looser than they are now. And you don't want to be soaking them all the time, as that'll defeat the purpose.

Cut your losses now, bud. Unfortunately since you soaked them I doubt you'll be able to return them.

Ideally, they should be snug(if not slightly tight) throughout the waist and thigh, that way when they stretch they'll fit right where you want them.

BUT if I did soak them again, I could get a tighter fit around the legs, though, right? I mean, as they are, they're slim, but not exactly at the semi-tight kind of fit I'm wanting.

And as they are now, they're not that snug around the thigh. There's a little too much free room in my opinion.

Sigh, but I really do need to get a picture taken.

And what did you mean by "defeat the purpose?" Would another soak after the initial one really make that much of a difference?

Also, if I go through with the second soak, should I wear them inside-out?

Also, side question:

Does washing the jeans also make them shrink? If so, is it considerable?

There is only so much shrinking that can be done, and it'll stretch out to about the same place anyway

Wait, I don't understand why they'd stretch back.

That measurement is the back rise, and it affects the fit of the waist and crotch more than it does the fit of the hips, IMO.

Most unsanforized jeans still have some shrinkage left after the first hot soak. Most of it comes out after the first soak though. Since you've already hot soaked once and rendered the jeans unreturnable, I'd recommend doing it again to see if you can get them to fit a bit better.

I'm not sure I understand your question about the bottom, but I don't see how cuffing the hems would help shrink the seat.

15 days of wear is usually enough to get most of the stretch that you are going to get out of a pair of jeans. With some jeans, it can take up to 20-30 days. I would say that after 30 days, you are unlikely to get any more stretch.

Soaking again doesn't "defeat the purpose" of anything unless the jeans are already too tight for you. A second soak will likely shrink the jeans a little bit more, but be aware that they will stretch back out as you wear them.

Why would you wear the jeans inside out?

Machine washing jeans does generally make them shrink a little bit more than just soaking them does. Tumble drying can also be used to give additional shrinkage if needed.

Every time you soak or wash your Flat Head BSPs, they will shrink. When you wear them in between washes or soaks, they will stretch back out. That's just the nature of denim. Some brands stretch less than others, but all denims shrink and stretch at least a little.

I'm currently wearing APC NS 33s, which I bought in May. I've drycleaned & soaked/line dried them a handful of times and now they're about 2" big on my waistline and baggy in the crotch but tight in my lower thigh & calf. I'm looking to get another pair of jeans but hoping to find something that'll fit a little more consistently; I'm also interested in something with a little less rise. Any suggestions? Something in the same price range would be nice.
