I have a jean...(The Ultimate Jean Thread For Beginners) - ask questions here. - Page 721

I see, thanks for the explanation. seems like a risky and slightly dick-ish move, but I'll let someone else report him

So I'm finally going to invest in some raw denim...not sure what brand yet. But I'm gonna do it.

My question is: I do quite a bit of bareback horseback riding. Do you think I should do this in raw denim? I've heard that the point of raw is for it to be personalized and it would make some SWEET looking fades, but at the same time they'll get dirty a lot quicker and likely have to be washed more often. Should I wear my new raws or should I just keep wearing my beater GAP jeans for this?

i tried on a pair of sz30 weird guys, how do they look? if i decided to kop i'd size down to 28 or 29, the thigh area fits but the waist is a little loose and i know these stretch out.

that looks good. might want to go one down though. thighs won't stretch alot, and neither will the waist if it is not tight. i think you could go with the 30 and be fine though.

It just depends. Something like this doesn't sound great from a sanitary/smell standpoint, since your jeans are going to smell a lot like horse if you don't wash them pretty frequently. I also think this will increase the probability of the crotch blowing out by quite a bit.

If you want to wear raws for riding, I'd advise wearing them solely for riding for several months to acquire fades, then wash them and retire them from riding and wear normally. Ideally you would have at least 2 pairs of jeans in rotation, 1 just for riding and 1 for normal life.

Does anyone know of a good online taper/alteration service?

i think you should get a nice pair of raws, wear them and wash them as normal for riding, and theyll end up looking fuckin tight

Ditto, but in NYC? And what kind of cost would I be looking at to get it done?

You could by a Lee cowboy/rider repro from Sugar Cane or Warehouse, etc or a pair of Real McCoy's or Joe McCoy. Stove-pipe jeans with a looser seat-fitting - will be more suitable for riding than jeans with more modern cuts.

What are the main differences between the Skull 5010xx's, and the Flat Head F310's? I just proxied a pair of the Skulls from Japan, and they ended up being a little lose in the waist when going TTS. It really sucks not being able to try on $300 jeans before buying them.... I'm mainly interested in the fade and fit of each one, but I'd also like to know which one people prefer and why. I already have a pair of PBJ's and APCs in my rotation, so I'd like to get something a little different from those cuts.

How are the SDA 101 Regular straight and SP 006 (30th Anniversary) fit wise in comparison to say APC NS. Is there a dedicated SDA thread here where more info can be gathered ? The other jeans I have tried for reference are 1. Flathead 1001 34W - too tight in the thigh and too low rise (though it shouldn't be so low rise as per SE) 2. Eternal 34 W - too much space in the top block and a bit roomy in the thigh 3. Momotaro 0705 34W - half inch tight in the waist and thigh Thanks for your replies.

1-2" in circumference, not across. Most likely you'll see at least 2" increase in waist size. I'm assuming you know that it's recommended to size down 2 sizes to get to your true waist measurement, then one more to account for stretch?

gracias. not even sure why i pulled the NS trigger but i went with the 30 (normally 32) so if it stretches out to 34 i'll be set. i reckon i'll know when they get here.

I squat 400+ lbs and have a big ass and thighs. I want a pair of jeans that accomodates my ass/thighs and doesnt pwn my shoes (ie. no rescues).

Question:

Nudie Big Bengt Heavy Organic*?

or

EP Hoyt?

*Inseam is a bit of a concern as I am 6'2" and stacking slowly dissappears as inseams drop below 34: how much do nudie's shrink?

Skull 5507XX plenty of inseem, strong taper, and room up top with a lower rise than most repros.
