There's other options if you want something with some fun denim character that will hold up better to every-day thrashing. We can suggest if you want.

thanks for the input, I am looking for something with around a 7.5 hem, long inseam and slim thighs. I have spurrs that cover my straight leg slim 501 fit, and new cures that I like a lot. dh are apparently not too different from nc, except they are slightly more tapered.

Understood. Well, you have two options - a modern cut or a modified '66 repro ('66 repros will have a fuller thigh and probably a higher rise). You might also seriously consider Samurai 710 and 0500xx, Skull 5010, Flat Head 05BSP, and Dry Bones Red-D. Also those Tellason Strummers, Somet 003 or 008. I'm sure you could get more ideas if you asked. I've moved away from slim tapers but I like '66 cuts like the Skull 5507.

Did anyone see the raw indigo selvage jeans from the Surface to Air sale on Gilt today? Supposedly the size 32 is measured at 30''. It's kinda like the opposite of vanity sizing I guess? Have any of you guys heard anything about or tried Surface to Air denim?

Some companies do that to account for stretch in denim

Urgh... the Dry Bones Red-D i got from Self Edge were hemmed to 35 or 35.5 because i wanted a 33.5-34max inseam and they didnt shrink in the inseam at all! They seemed to slim down width wise all the way from the waist to the leg opening but they didn't lose any length from an hour hot soak in the tub. What to do? I am not generally a stack happy person but i do like a small cuff... i'm a natural 32" inseam. Should i get these hemmed down a bit or could they shrink down a bunch more next soak? Crap i dunno what to do :/

I think you should get em hemmed down a bit. Since you already soaked them and nothing happened then chances are that it's not going to change a lot come second soak.

Agreed. I ran mine through the dryer and got about an inch max. If you don't want to do that, hem them.

How would I go about replacing the top button on my APCs? I broke it off by playing around with it too much (it was the loose button, not the solid one they used to have).

Could I just take them to a tailor to get a new button put on? I don't care about the APC logo on the button or anything, just want it to look similar...maybe I should to find a button at a fabric store first and then go to the tailor?

Suggest you contact where you got it first. You can try a tailor, but in my experience most I asked can't replace a rivet or button, and don't have them on hand anyway. It's not sewn on. When I lost my top button, BiG was kind enough to scrounge a spare Samurai button and replace it for me. Those are available online if you hunt around, and you can do it at home with a mallet. Edit: or here

Nice, thanks a lot. There are some nickel buttons on createforless that should work great.

I am very new to this forum (activated today) but I have been interested in nice jeans for a while. I haven't been able to find any opinions on Surface2Air jeans despite hours of searching. Gilt has S2A no. 1 jeans on sale for half off, but I don't want to buy anything without a second opinion. Can anyone help?

Back for a bit more advice. Couple years ago Whodini suggested some lee 101z for me and they worked out well except that they were always a bit tight in the thigh but need replacing now. I no longer see them on the lee website and they seem to be selling for considerably more on other sites. Looking for any suggestions for a similar style as the 101z that may be slightly more roomy in the thigh and sub $100.

Lee Japan still makes them to old specs (LHT, selvedge, etc.) and there are Lee repro cuts just as there are Levi repros (though I can't think of any particular ones off the top of my head, at least one was carried by BiG
