Buying an LCD tv, need advice - Page 2

I'm thinking about buying a 40" Samsung LCD flatscreen. I've eyeballed these things in the stores, but I can't tell much (any, to be honest) difference in the 720p and the 1080. Will I later regret not springing for the 1080? As way of background, I'm pretty casual about this stuff. Probably don't watch 10 hours of TV a week, and have never been much of an audio/video guy. I'm already thinking this may be more TV than I need, but it looked fun for Wii/PS.

It really depends on what you're doing and how far the TV is away from you. Personally if the TV is within 7-10 feet, I'd just spring and go for the 1080p. Especially if you're using it for HD channels and PS3.

Bumping this thread for more recommendations. Has anyone bought a new model Samsung (A550/650/750)?
