I only wear a suit about once every week and a half. On the other hand, when not wearing a suit, I nearly always wear a blazer. Thus, I have about 10 suits and about 10 blazers. Some of each are strictly for summer wear (light cotton/linen/silk and/or wool fabrics) or strictly for cold winter wear (heavy wool). Personally, if you wear suits 5 days a week and you live where there are actually 4 seasons of the year weatherwise, I don't see how you can have only 4 or 5 suits without wearing them out very quickly and also having to compromise on fabrics (i.e., all fabrics basically have to be a relatively lightweight year-round wool). As for shirts, I'm a little over the top, as I keep finding incredible bargains on EBay... -- again, though, many are now in garment bags as they are of fabric/color, etc. that is most suited for summertime. And, I've pulled out the heavier cotton and the wool/cashmere shirts to wear now that the temps are falling.
