So ever since I've begun this adventure into buying my first "real" watch, the prerequisite research is almost more effort than wearing a $50 Fossil (all the WIS-in-da-house shudder ). Anyways, I found a nice local shop that offers a larger variety of used timepieces at competitive market prices--or the prices I've seen on Timezone. Option B) is to buy through the internet, but I'm less excited about that prospect since I've heard a few horror stories. I prefer to post on this board since the replies tend to be succint and more objective than the myopic watch hobbyist (e.g. our collection opinion of EG shoes, bespoke suits, etc.). Two more questions: Is a used Cartier Santos too "bling" for a starter watch? S/S with 18k gold automatic. This model: http://www.ashford.com/product....oSearch Option B) Baume & Mercier Hampton Automatic/Champagne face. I realize there is a huge price difference b/w the two watches, which figures into my decision heavily, but I also dont want to walk away with buyer regret/remorse.
