E-BAY's "MPTOBIS" - any experience with this seller? - Page 11

Can somebody summarize this thread for me? Is Mptobis a legit seller? Should I worry about his return policy?
I was just about to pick something up from this seller when I saw this thread.

I don't know what prompted this thread to re-surface, but I will volunteer that I purchased a NWT Brioni sportcoat from MPTOBIS last year at an excellent price, the merchandise was as described, and it was shipped crazy fast. (I think I got it only three days after completing the transaction, suggesting it went into the mail the same day I paid.)

I've had similarly positive experiences with this seller in the past -- including the very recent past -- as well.

I've had 2 transactions with him, both terrible. In the first, I ordered a pair of pants from him & his measurements were way off. The waist was a full 2" under what he listed. When I emailed & asked for return instructions, he replied by telling me that I had received exactly the pair of pants I'd bid on & that I couldn't return the pants. Assuming he misunderstood me, I replied by indicating that the measurements he posted were incorrect, and even provided a picture demonstrating this fact, but he still refused to take them back. In the end, I had to file a claim with Paypal--along the way, he was rude & curt at every turn.

Then, last year, I bid on a pair of shoes he had for sale. I won the auction and paid immediately. I received no response, & emailed a few days after paying asking if the shoes had been shipped. He responded by telling me that the shoes were "no longer available for sale" and that I could put my payment towards another purchase. I explained that I wanted the shoes I bid on and won, but he kept saying that they were "no longer available for sale." I suspect (but don't know for sure) that he sold them to someone else. The kicker here is that after he finally refunded my payment, he opened an Unpaid Item case against me.

I am so glad I didn't buy from this seller.
The measurements on his ties looked a bit off too.

what was the outcome of both incident?

Paypal refunded my money in the first case. I pointed out to eBay that I had, in fact, paid in the second case & that he backed out of the sale.

Wow. That's remarkably bad -- did you leave negative feedback? Coming to think of it, I was negotiating with him for a two jacket deal, and when I was ready to pay him he told me that one of them was "not in stock." In retrospect, I suppose he'd in fact got a better offer, but at least no money had changed hands yet.

I had a transaction. It came in as described. It went smoothly for me. No problems here.

If this in fact happened as described (I have no reason to doubt it) then buyer beware! Why take a chance buying from him/her. I am confused why you would have bought/bid from this buyer a second time after the issue with the pants though.

I bought a Borrelli polo from him a few months back that was measured wrong, chest was 2" inches smaller then he had listed it. I would've been happy with a exchange but he refunded my payment without me even asking. No problems here.

Officially now the SECOND search result on Ebay. Kind of a lesson on customer service...

I've had a few very good transactions with him...on a couple of occasions though I didn't pull the trigger because the measurements were way off on boots that I owned previously, and after my query he responded that they are indeed correct. It was a red flag, so I didn't go any further.
