What checks/precautions before buying

What is the procedures that u guys take before u buy from forums? Do u ask for references etc....

I have been burnt on this forum before. Maybe I needed to do more homework before I buy next time.

I always use a credit card, so I can do a chargeback if necessary. But I usually buy from regular posters, so I'm not too worried about it.

You can change your funding option. Under the "My Account" tab, there's a subtab labeled "Profile." If you move your cursor over it, you'll see an option for "Add or edit credit card." Click that and there you go.

I never use PayPal directly from my bank account. The credit card is the ultimate line of defense.

Are you talking about deadbeats who never post anything to you.

I dont know what you buy but with the rise of Class AA fakes, the seller himself do not even know whether it is fake or not unless he got it from the store himself.

I second this - I only use my AMEX - if the seller won't take paypal, I offer to split the fees, and if it's still a no - it's probably a scam - as my mom always told me - "If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is!"
Chargebacks are your only real protection - paypal will not help you unless you buy the item off of ebay, in which case you get $200 (not a big help if the original purchase was $2000).
