Mtm in nyc

Thread Starter
I'm going into town on Thursday to start looking for a sportcoat.  The last time I bought one was about 15 years ago, so I could use some advice.  Trying to answer my own question I have looked over the entire 18 pages of threads here...no luck.  I'm looking for an English cut in a deep brownish vein...maybe a tweed with bits of blue.  And then perhaps a faint burgundy windowpane...you know the look.  The goal is to find something which will work with brown or charcoal trousers.  I'd prefer MTM and, for the moment, I'd like to leave Bergdorf's, Saks, and Barney's out and go to a smaller establishment.  I'd like not to spend more than a thousand dollars.  Can this be done?  Where would you look? PS:  I'll be stopping by T&A to try to straighten out a dickey order; is that place next door worth a look?  Thanks, Bill

Why don't you email W.W. Chan for an appointment during their early November stop -- email sales@wwchan.com for info. They'll be sure to give you the cut you desire. Alternatively, Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece should be within your price range, and they have a ton of fabric choices. It should cost in the $750 range for the typical heavier fabric, I'd think. I have heard they can give non-typical cuts, so you might want to check it out. The NY flagship store apparently has a cool measuring system involving lasers. ? I'd hasten to say the "smaller" establishments will actually be more expensive than Brooks, due to economies of scale issues. If you can wait until early December, I'd still say go with Chan though.
