A mysterious thing happens with my tassel loafers where they get a stubborn sort of 'scuffing' on the shoe where the tassel comes in contact with the shoe. Its actually beyond scuffing, in that the polish and natural finish of the leather seems almost to have been somewhat eroded or 'bruised'. I have tan and cordovan pairs and the damaged areas on both are nearly black. I'm not sure why the tassels would do that much damage. Perhaps some sort of glue is used in the construction of the tassels, the chemicals in the glue erode the leather? They're not particularly expensive shoes -- both pairs are Polo, but it seems strange. One is a casual moc, one is a somewhat dressier kiltie (the front edge of the kiltie does the same kind of damage). Anyone familiar with what I'm talking about?
