Meeting a girl's friends

Fellas, Got a quick question for you...I have always been bad with awkward pauses after introductions to a girl's friends at a bar. I'll introduce myself, but then really find myself at a loss for what to say, so I'll defer to saying, "oh so how do you know Amy, etc..." There has gotta be some better things to say to schmooze the girl's friends to impress the girl...Let me know what you think. Maybe I could tell a funny joke or something. Thanks in Advance...

Ask questions about them. Where are they from? What do they like to do? How did they meet your girlfriend? etc. etc. etc. You find out about them (which leads to interesting conversation opportunities) and they see that you are interested in them (which makes you seem charming.)

Menage a trois? I asked my professor about this (the origin) yesterday in class. Then again, during my freshman year of high school I asked my health teacher about douches, and during my sophomore year of high school I asked my english teacher about pimps.

When meeting new women, I always try to be funny immediately and avoid boring conversation like "Where do you work?" and "How long have you been living here?" I would advise the same for you.

You know what you should do. Something subversive. Yeah, give her a line, and then say (when it doesn't work) "Yeah, that never works, does it?" and then another, and another, and another. Girls love that. And statistically, given enough lines, one will work. Check joke thread for more starters. I want to see this.

Agreed. Rediculous, original, funny pick up lines actually DO work, because they're so funny. Shall we start a collection? My favorite: "Are those space pants? Cos your ass is out of this world."
