Ascots - Page 3

I confess that I own and have worn an ascot.
IMMSMC, I prefer the lace-jabot and multi-colored suspenders ensemble. Fuji Television felt that the ascot was just not effete enough.

some more paul lynde hollywood squares quotes (apologies for the earlier misspelling of his name):
Host: In The Wizard of Oz, the lion wanted courage and the tin man wanted a heart. What did the scarecrow want? Lynde: He wanted the tin man to notice him. Host: Why do Hell's Angels wear leather? Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles too easily. Host: In "Alice in Wonderland", who kept crying "I'm late, I'm late?" Lynde: Alice, and her mother is sick about it. Host: Diamonds should not be kept with your family jewels, why? Lynde: They're so cold. Host: Snow White...was she a blonde or a brunette? Lynde: Only Walt Disney knows for sure... Host: According to the French Chef, Julia Child, how much is a pinch? Lynde: Just enough to turn her on... Host: We've all heard the old phrase "A pig in a poke." What is a poke? Lynde: It's when you're not really in love.
Ted Knight - brilliant. I'm trying to think of another ascot-wearing actor/comedian, similar in spirit to Paul Lynde - he wore glasses...can't remember his name. Last name might have been 'Reilly'. anyone?

When worn in this day and age it's more of a costume accessory, like a white powdered wig. Andre 3000 of Outkast ("ascot to match the socks") and that Bentley guy can get away with it, as it is the costumed look they want to portray. I've seen some French men wear it without a hint of irony.

Hmm, I had the same problem trying to post his pic. Couldn't find an actual ascot pic, though -- only a neckerchief...
