Each week the things that please people seem to get gaudier and gaudier. Is this only my opinion? Perhaps I am getting more conservative and therefore less likely to be pleased with things I liked before.

Any other thoughts on this? Is there a negative groupthink going on?

i feel it's just that more and more people are doing random web searches for "men's fashion" and styleforum is one of the highest results.

Styleforum should have been called TraditionalEuropeanstyleforum

oh and by gaudy, what do you mean? Do you mean Mark Nason gaudy or Corthay gaudy?

I know from my posts on the sartorialist thread drew a negative reaction and many thought the subjects i chose were dressed fairly gaudy (to each his own, i use it as inspiration). But current WAYWN photos as compared to archived photos (even last summer) lead me to think majority of the members posting are less and less conservative. But maybe im wrong

I couldn't agree with you more. It may be conservative but I always prefer simple, classic cuts, cloths and combinations. (please add points for alliteration)

There has always been some gaudiness here so I'm not sure I've seen any more than usual lately. Maybe it is you. Where is all this newfound gaudiness you see on SF?

+1

Gaudiness seems to be pretty common and relatively localized in the shoe department.

Maybe I'm missing the gaudier threads.

As a recent member, I can't speak to a trend on SF. I haven't been around long enough. I will say that what makes SF interesting to me is the diversity of style, both good and bad. It challenges my attitudes and I like that.
