Your tastes are questionable then. Also an excellent actor, I think people are prejudice towards his acting because of the Scientology stuff and just want to bash him for something.

I'm no Cruise fan, and some of his antics in the past couple of years have been more than a little odd, but I dont really see what the fuss is about with this video. He was interviewed for 10 minutes about scientology and why he thinks it is great for his life. So what did he do? He spoke for 10 minutes about scientology and why he thinks it is great for his life...equips his with the tools he feels he needs etc etc. Good for him. He makes more money than I do, so I guess he is doing something right. Do I agree with what he says? no. Do I think scientology is for everyone? no. Do I think scientology is for me? also no. Do I care if Tom Cruise thinks he is a better man for his beliefs? no, but more power to him. Do I still think 'it's good to be Tom Cruise?' probably.

John Travolta is also into Scientology. L Ron Hubbard was a genius creating a religion.

I'll second this. I disagree with Scientology, but I think that a motivation to do things and help people is a lot more benign than some of the other options.

then scientlology is the wrong cult to be looking at. they are very good at emptying your wallet, and haeting on psychiatrists with disasterous results

And that's not even close to being the only case like this. Not even close.

I watched the first 90 seconds of that. I admittedly didn't get to maniacal laughter. But I saw nothing in the first 90 seconds that was all that controversial or terrible. In fact, I saw some stuff in there I thought was kind of admirable. Maybe taken a step too far, but still...

...Also, I am hesitant to judge Cruise on his beliefs. I mean, if you went to Hollywood hoping to be an actor, and someone got you caught up in a power-of-positive-thinking kind of self-help program, and said "you can be anything you want to be if you put your mind to it" and then you bought in to it, and then became the richest man in Hollywood, how on earth could you NOT buy in to it at that point, and want to share it with people?
