I want to prepare this for a special dinner, can't find it in any of the meat markets. Does anyone know?

Did you try Citarella?

I don't know anyone for sure that carries it but I would think Fairway or Lobels-although sure to be very pricey, might also have it. If they don't I would think they could get it for you. I live in the suburbs and we have a butcher that will special order things they don't normally carry.

I'm pretty sure squab is a euphemism for pigeon so you might try Times Square

www.dartagnan.com I am sure several markets carry them. I can find them in at least four in San Francisco, so NY shoulc be no prob.

Did anybody else call a fight a "squab" when you were in Jr High? Seems like guys were allways talking about "who was goin squab" when I was that age. And yes, a squab is a pigeon.

Fights were squabs or "squabbles" when I was a kid.... But I always just assumed it was a small-town Indiana hick thing.

You can definatley get it at Fairway uptown (125th) and most likley all Fairway locations. Citarella will likely have it as well.

Actually I just like seeing Diane Weist and Glenn Close buy their food.

Garden of Eden carries Dartagnan products and has locations on 14th and 23rd sts as well as Brooklyn Heights...I frequent the store, it is good for certain things, overpriced on others.

D'artagnan gets their squab from Griggstown Quail Farm outside of Princeton, NJ. The bird your getting will be fresh and will take only a day to ship to NYC.
