Hi there, so I have a bunch of suit seperates of adequate quality as well as four fused Hugo boss suits. The fit (40S) of HB really suits me but I would eventually like to start upgrading to semi canvassed suits...Something that will last me a bit longer and be a bit better quality. I pay about 400 CAD per Hugo boss suit when they are on sale. What would be the most affordable step in the semi canvassed direction? Thx

Have you considered suit supply? They have a shop in Toronto and pretty good value for money

Ya it seems like HB are trash. They will last me a year or two but I would like to slowly start investing in something that could last like 15+ years

Suit Supply is probably your best bet. If you don't like what you find there, you might also try Brooks Brother's 1818 line and/or Jos A Bank Signature Gold, both of which I believe are half-canvassed. I think most or all of Hickey Freeman's lines are half-canvassed as well at a minimum. I have a couple of BB jackets that are easily over 15 years old and still going strong. Much depends on the care you take with them. I keep mine on high quality hangars and inside breathable garment bags.

Thank you. Where would one find these decent quality hangers?

The Hanger Project is an affiliate here. Although I don't have any of theirs they look like the real deal. You basically want hangers that mimic the shape and width of your shoulders so your jackets maintain the form in which they were tailored.

You are going to have to go much further up market than SS to achieve this and also must be sufficiently eccentric to be able to wear things which are out of fashion. People such as the English aristocracy can do that that with ease, the average man has to lucky to find the timeless classic rather than an old suit. Saville Row is a route to that, SS most certainly is not.

I have a ten year old Canali sportscoat that is still looking new but I don't want to be spending that kind of money on their full suits.

Using good hangers to preserve the life of your suit is vastly under rated and hanger project certainly provides the best selection that I know of. Highly recommend

I do agree that a suit supply suit is unlikely to last 15 years but don't agree that you can't find a "timeless" model from their selection. They do have some great classic models that should last a good 5-10 years with proper care
