(The_Foxx @ 17 Oct. 2004, 10:00) Ok, I'd like to spend no more than $525 on a nice pair of dark brown antique laceup shoes in Manhattan. Â What are my options, and where to purchase them? Â Really need your expert advice on this one, guys. Â I have until November 8 to figure it out. Thanks.
I would try as mentioned, Barney's (C&J), J.M. Weston, Paul Stuart (Grenson), or possibly Mantellassi (at Saks 5th). koji
I am sad to say that, if my memory serves me correctly, none of the shoe brands mentioned here will be within your budget once tax is factored in. The Barneys C&Js and the Paul Stuart Grensons are certainly more expensive before tax than your budget. However, "help is on the way." I would try on C&J handgrades at Barneys and then order the same model from Ben Silver's website, where they are considerably less and where you would pay no tax. You will get gorgeous antiqued shoes for about $500.
