laser removal for shoulders/upper arms?

Anyone here get laser hair removal for their shoulders or upper arms? I've got body hair there as well as on my back, but I just don't have enough money to get rid of it all and aesthetically I'm almost more concerned with the hair on my shoulders and upper arms.

1. I've read that the hair in the upper arms area, like the tricep area, can be hard to get rid of with lasers for some people and you can experience bad regrowth there even after several sessions. any truth to that?

2. Usually, if you go in just for your "shoulders", how much of that area do would they treat? In other words how far down would they go, or are they stingy with that?

3. Is $155 for the shoulders and $405 for the back a normal price? I got a consultation at a place called Lasting SkinSolutions here in Madison WI, and I thought that was quite a bit higher than what I'd read on the internet.

Thanks for the heads up.. I would love to see a lot of updates from your forum because this is something that would be useful in my research. I would love to see a lot of searches too because I am working on a research. nice one!

That sounds like a lot of money you were quoted. I go to a person that does it out of their home so no overhead costs and much cheaper. Still has top of the line equipment. I can ask my lady when I see her this friday but I'm pretty sure something like shoulders only would be like $25-50. I go once a month and have been going for 3 months. Should take 6-9 sessions in total. I get my entire upper body done. I'm not that hairy but just want to make sure all the hair is gone...chest, arms (includes shoulders although I don't have any), pits, back of neck. All for $300. After the first session I noticed a huge difference. I'm guessing it won't take me 6-9 sessions. Also, the old stories of pain are not true - guess maybe it was with the old technology but I literally don't feel a thing. I usually fall asleep during it.

If it's painless it's not laser hair removal, probably IPL. You're going to get hair dropout or minaturization rather than permanent reduction.

Sounds about right. It varies from place to place but what you were quoted isn't unusual.

Yeah, lasers like YAG and sheer are painful. The elastic band analogy is just bull that they peddle because they don't want to intimidate you away from getting it done. It's painful. If it isn't painful it's IPL, which is ok but not as effective as the others.

I had my shoulders, neck, and back done by this very company in Madison WI. I would say it reduced the density of hair by about 50%, but by no means eliminated it. Overall, I was dissappointed. This was after 3 treatments.

I'll check the machine when I go for my next treatment this Friday.

I don't doubt you guys but my armpit hair hasn't grown back since the first treatment and the others areas are drastically reduced and growing very slowly.

be very careful with having these areas done...it is possible that you can end up with more hair there than you started with. Google it. The shoulders and upper arms areas are known to have this problem. I had someone zap me once or twice there while treating the area and it resulted in lots of growth.
