Ok gents, I'm organizing a Styleforum Meet and Greet event. It will be in the spring. I'm compiling things to do/themes/stores to invite.

This is a rough idea, and I would really appreciate assistance as I'm not an event organizing type:

a. Every attendee must bring 3 items: An interesting article of clothing for discussion, a piece that you want to swap/trade, and a piece you want to donate (I will reach out to Yonge Street Mission and Dress for Success about setting a table);

b. Ask boutique stores to "buy" a table at the event. They must provide some kind of discount or donate to the draw for prizes;

c. With a small budget, see if we can rent out an area of a bar/pub and have some appetizers;

d. If the bar/pub idea doesn't work, as a boutique to host the event.

Please message me if you can assist, or have any ideas!

I'll add my thoughts. We can probably do this in the Toronto thread, and if you go back to Aug/Sept there was some discussions on this.

1) These things are a drop in/drop by situation, likely after work. Don't obligate people to bring items, or complicate arrival. Just have a drink and meet/talk people. Donation bin is a good idea, I can support that idea.

2) Leatherfoot has previously offered their location, I would speak to them first to see what they could do for you, let them disclose the details in terms of what they would be willing to offer for a group setting. Not sure there is a better location for this then them.

3) If a retailer, the buy and sell tables or other vendors, likely wouldn't happen. We should all respect that, and to be honest I think most would prefer to see what they would entertain as special offers for the event. It would be great if it could be based around a trunk show, but long shot I know.

Thanks for the great input. I'll contact Leatherfoot and go from there. There are others in the "Toronto buy and sell" thread who are interested.

I think Leatherfoot is a great choice, but I think a scheduled time is better than a drop in whenever type of deal. Like 6 to 8 one weekday evening. Then you know you have a decent chance of meeting everyone who attends.

By drop in, I meant people will come and go at their leisure (of course they would).

Definitely a fixed time needs to be assigned from Leatherfoot.

I agree with the above suggestions. Leatherfoot is a great place, and I believe their desire is to host events such as this.

The donation is a great idea.

I think if we want to do a swap, then it should be a separate event. I don't want to schlep things over and then back home for nothing but I'd be into a meeting for the purpose of swapping.
I'm not in favour of having vendors because they'll expect to sell something, I'll feel obligated to buy, kind of ruins the vibe for me.

So just wear an item for discussion, and donate.

Sounds good. Thank you everyone so far for the suggestions. Please PM me if you want to help. I'm definitely not an event organizer type.

Hey guys, Heard you're looking for a menswear boutique for a meet and greet, love the idea If leatherfoot isn't available we'd be up for it.
