my toes are ugly, what can I do. picture included for your viewing pleasure

I've got rather ugly toes. Partially because I've got callouses or whatever on my toe "knuckles" I think from always curling my toes when I sit and they rub against the carpet, and my toenails aren't exactly perfect looking either. Especially my right big toe. It looks cracked all over. Is there anything I can use to fix any of this?

here's a pic:

I suggest you see your podiatrist. If you do not have one, ask your primary care physician for a referral.

does it look like it's toenail fungus or what?

It looks like you have corns. FYI. You might have nail fungus, too.

A podiatrist will be able to help as well as a pedicure. But see the podiatrist first for treatment and plan on the "pedi" about the time you plan to start wearing sandles again

Alright, I'll probably be seeing a podiatrist then. I can't recall when my toenails started looking like that- it's been between 1 and 3 years- but it hasn't gotten worse or anything in a long time. It doesn't look like it's getting anywhere near what google-image brings up.

Ive used Reclear to successfully clear up a nasty toenail I had...It takes a full year of applying this stuff everyday 2X's a day and wearing flip flops everyday all spring and summer pretty much. Otherwise you have to get a script from a Doctor for an oral treatment that may be harmfull to your liver.
This stuff works but it takes forever and you will need at least 2 bottles at $20 a pop.

Have fun!

Apply Zim's Crack Creme religiously to your feet. You can obtain it OTC. Also, pick up some nail files and smooth out the cracks on your nails. Use a pumice stone on callous build up. You might soak your feet in hot water + Epsom salts. Just soak them while you're watching the news or something, then, once your callouses are soft, use the pumice stone to wear them down. Be patient and don't work your feet until they're bleeding. Over time these things will improve the look of your feet, which take a lot of abuse even with ordinary walking. A podiatrist may be able to recommend shoes arches and will be able to medicate you if there is a fungus.

the toe nails could be thickening because of a fungus or in response to pressure (which is also causing the corns). either way, fungus or thickening, this is likely caused by wearing shoes that are too small and too damp. are you wearing the same rubber-soled shoes every day? lamisil or something like that will knock out the fungus, but if it is just thickening because they are crammed into a too-small shoe, the lamisil won't totally restore your toenails. you should go to your doctor. i don't think you need to see a specialist immediately. he will probably ask if your shoes are too small and also give you something like lamisil, which is a prescription-only medicine (i think) that you take once a day for about three months.

they don't look so bad. In fact I would say they are average or even above average for males.

but, without any expertise, I would guess you wear shoes which are too small??

because of the corns? Nah, like I said I'm pretty sure it's because I have a tendancy to curl my toes against my carpet. Now that I think about it, I wonder if that causes my nails to look like that. It really doesn't look quite like toenail fungus pics I see on the internet.

well, just an update for those of you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for new info on my toes, I put a little moisturizer on my toenails a couple nights in a row and just took a look at them, and they actually look a lot better. Like that horizontal crack across my big toe in that picture, it's totally gone now, and it looks overall a lot healthier. I assume that probably rules out fungus. Are there any moisturizers that are meant for this sort of thing?
