I need a Smart Jacket

I need a smart jacket and have some questions.

Should I get one made rather than RTW?
(I'm never 100% happy with designer tailoring that I have tried but then again I haven't really much experience of very expensive brands)

I have very square shoulders but otherwise normal athletic build and I struggle with bumps under the back of the collar which makes me refuse to wear them!!

What colour would be the most versatile?
(I don't go anywhere super formal, I just want something nice when I take the Mrs out to dinner or for evenings at an upmarket bar and maybe a family event like a christening)?

What fabric would be good to wear year round bearing in mind I'm English and I hate being hot in the summer (cold weather I can cope with)

What details would you choose on this utility all weather all purpose jacket/blazer??

I would mostly be wearing with smart jeans or chinos and with an open collar shirt or sweater underneath.

Thanks in advance

Not sure what your budget is, or what good MTM operations there are in England. So maybe others can advise better here.

However, the staple blazer/sports jacket color would be a shade of navy. You should look for either hopsack or fresco like materials, in a light wool or linen blend, which would be light and breathable, and go either half or quarter lined. Stick with jacket details that distinguish a blazer/sports jacket from a suit jacket, such as patch pockets, brown or MOP buttons. Look at makers that offer lightly structured or unstructured jackets, which would go better with your outfit criteria.

That should fit the bill nicely IMO, good luck OP.
