Hair styling for fine hair

I have very fine hair. I'm not balding (yet), I've just always had fine hair. I've always found hairstyling of any sort difficult and as a result have mostly just cut it short so it'd be low maintenance. I quite like Daniel Craig's hairstyle in Casino Royale, but, first of all, is that even possible with fine hair and second, how is it done?

Fine hair works best when it's shorter. Use Phytologie's' volumizing spray before you style.

Just to understand the mechanics of it better, how exactly does that work?

use any type of paste (kms molding paste) for thin hair styling
the paste will help coat the hair shaft to add some weight to help aid in styling

some clay based products (baxter of california clay pomade) will work as well but you may find them a bit too heavy for thin hair (but experimenting with the right amount can result in good results)

keep the hair short is a must though
