Ordered suede liverpool seconds and matching belt. Hoping it comes out nice. For $200 I'll give it a shot. Just not sure I'll get to wear it very often here in the armpit of Texas.
Also picked up a walnut/bone broad street that I've wanted forever

Liverpool seconds (and a belt??) for 200 - shoebank has plenty of liverpools listed but that are all priced at 245 and then we'd have to add the belt... enquiring minds would love to know where to find this price!

Thanks for those suggestions.  Yeah, I'm really wanting to make sure the shoes are up to "wedding standards," but cost is a bit of a factor.  I live in Canada and with the exchange, shipping and duties, sales are my only way to go.  I was thinking of asking a Shoebank SA to try to pick the best one, based on the shoes being for a wedding and being in Canada where it's more challenging to return.

For reference, I have the following:

Black Park Avenues
Black Fairfax
Merlot McAllisters
Brown Hinsdales
Black Kennilworths

Thinking brown Fifth Aves or Carlyles (if the Vernon Chii was available, that would be in the running, too).  I'm not a fan of the chisel on the Cornwallis.

Forgive bumping my own threads, but I'm wondering if anyone else has some thoughts?

Chili Carlyle. Otherwise I think you have a pretty good set of shoes for weddings there.

Completely non-AE related, but John Wick 2 is phenomnomnomenal.

Yes it is. Watched it in my natural shell Macneils and they were also pleased.

No sorry! The belt was $50 and the shoes $245! I tend to severely round up/down

I find my Long Branches to fit noticeably wider than my Daltons of the same size/width. Length seemed about the same. I assume the difference is in the ability to pull the leathers tight over the last.

This has been my experience as well. I typically wear thicker socks with the LBs than with the Daltons.

Inspired by the beautiful weather we had today, I got out my 3 pairs of Maritimes and 1 pair of Kirkwoods and worked them over nicely with some VSC and a horsehair brush. They had been sitting on a rack for months collecting dust (and I hadn't really cleaned or conditioned them at all before putting them away for the fall/winter). I of course forgot to take pictures, but the VSC really made them look beautiful!

Do you think sending in to AE for refinishing in bourbon is a safe bet?

I had a bourbon pair refinished. Random story. I had a pair of Sapienzas but they were a tad wide. Found a width down pair on eBay and jumped on them. They were barely worn but the elastic tabs had been cut out (Venetian loafers) And they reeked of smoke. Seller was cool and gave me a complete refund and AE said if I had them recrafted they would fix the elastic tabs. Bourbon color came back just about like before (should have asked for burnishing though) and it was as expected. 90% of smoke smell was gone as well (now completely gone).

My one regret is I did not ask to replace the black welt dressing. You can see the posts today and yesterday of folks tampering with that. I would see if they would do that as part of redrafting. ???

Interesting. I did not know we should request burnishing on bourbon -- I figured they would do that anyway because of the nature of the color. No biggie, as I can always add a little black or dark brown polish on the end to create some burnishing.

Just for comparison, you can see a difference in my Strands and Carlyles. The Carlyles are sort of like a dark walnut, while the Strands are more of what I think of as true bourbon. Sorry for the poor indoor lighting.

pair of suede Neumoks delivered while I was out of town. Bought from unknown Ebayer, but they are in really good shape and the price was right.

I cannot tell which color/shade of suede they are and I want a belt to match, AE site has two "brogue suede" and "bitter chocolate". Does anyone know which color the Neumoks were made in?

I believe the Neumoks were Snuff Suede. There is also a belt available in that color, if you search the AE website (though that one isn't on clearance like the other two).
