Nice! I was about to remind you that those were available on EBay.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll brb...gotta go order a pair. biggrin.gif

Saw a dude at the grocery store today with what looked like cappuccino shell McAllisters/Cambridges.  Has to be someone who lurks here or on AAAC.  No way you pick those bad boys up without some barnweaseling.

Yeah I noticed that too. Was about 20 hours between your "I'm good now" and "ordered the shell Graysons" LOL must be some kind of record!

Not that I blame you one bit! I saw that price and figured it had to have been a price mistake. Good for you for asking and getting!

Although not participating in the trunk show, I may have smoked a few digits off the CC today calling various AE outlets... mwink[1].gif

Ha!
Yeah, I was *slowly* heading toward the black cap toes but I kept looking at those particular MacNeils and your "Natural shell is rare and trunk shows aren't an every day occurrence, son"* talk pushed me over the edge. I screen shot it & showed it to the wife, in fact (she loved the natural MacNeils anyway, though).

You get a special weasel award for:
-Pushing me towards shell
-In private messaging

Nice work!

Haha seriously laughed at this, also heard the connection sound at the same time too (you all know it.)

They are actually driver install CD's and graphics too. My "office" doesn't get used for much aside from putting my bets in and photo shoots for when I'm upstairs instead of down.

Okay... seriously done for a while. I can't even think of another pair that I couldn't do without right now.

SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE you are done for a while...

until the next "gotta have it" shoe pops up.

You are hooked.  It's OK.  We've all been there.

I used to say the same things:

1.  "Honey, this is the LAST pair.  I promise !!"

2.  "I won't order anything else until my birthday"

3.  other random, miscellaneous BLAH BLAH BLAHS

And that was a GREAT deal for $219.

Those coupons are really handy. I used it to pick up a pair of vintage Stuart McGuire #8 shell PTBs. Got them with the minimum opening bid AND saved the extra $15. That made them $120.

I barely had to ask her lol. Last night I clicked the "ask store about this shoe" button, and this morning I got an email from Kristen saying she was holding on to them and to give her a call- at the bottom of the email, it had a receipt which logged the $219 price from when I sent the request. When she was ringing it up, I told her the situation and asked if they would honor that price, and immediately she was like "sure! It was accidentally logged at the same price as calf, but all I needed to see was the price on the request you sent last night- you're getting an amazing deal!" Made a very crappy Monday morning far better.

The trick will be seeing what kind of condition they're in when they show up, and if they'll fit. Kristen at Paramus told me that they have a few rolls from try on wear and probably need to be polished, but I figure as long as the "needs to be polished" part doesn't translate into "scratched and mangled", it should be fine. That said, for 1/3 price of retail, I can overlook a lot lol.

My biggest concern is mismarked sizing- I had that issue on several pairs of Patriots that I ordered several years back, and I know that shell fits a bit looser than calf. I ordered the same size as my calf Grayson's, so my fingers are crossed.

Barbour Beaufort in olive:

I was debating between my actual jacket size (38) or size up (40), with my concern being whether or not the sleeves would be long enough on the 38. Tried on both at Orvis, and decided the 40 was way too big in the chest. This is a 38, and has more than enough room to layer a heavy sweater:

Part of the reason I'm posting this here is that this thread is partially responsible for this purchase. When we started talking about the eBay coupon a couple weeks ago (which, ironically, I didn't get to use with this purchase), someone mentioned getting a Barbour. I've wanted a Beaufort since I started posting here and at AAAC, and when I started looking around on eBay, I found some pretty solid deals on new jackets (still $200+, but cheaper than retail). I found a seller that was willing to negotiate down a decent bit from $300, so the timing was right. As an aside, it's incredible how sturdy this is - very worth the price, as I imagine I'll have this for a very, very long time.

Get ready to see this with country grain MacNeils and HMs very often during the fall

My Barbour is one size smaller than my suit jacket and is still about one size too big.

Not me I did not stop at the grocery store tonight. But whoever it was has good taste.. Did it look like front and center? The 1, 7 and 5 last fit me well. As long as AE doesn't go changing it with poron.

Yeah try listening to that sound when your inside the server\comm room with the modem bank! Hundreds of them connecting 7x24. You have mail my ass... But those CD's that AOL sent out as spam worked great as targets for both rifle and pistol. Put a piece of tape on the spindle hole and see how good you really are.

Those modems were connecting to Linux servers 386 & screaming 486 boxes. Windows 95 CD's were sitting on pallets, Sonopress North of Asheville, NC. was trying to pump them out as fast as they could. Everyone blamed Micro$oft for the delay. But there were a lot of floppy discs waiting to be made at other places and they were the real hold up from what I could tell.

:crackup:This almost guarantees you'll have another pair in a month.  I said the same thing several months back when I had a dozen.  I have 19 now.  But on the positive side, I've gone almost 1 month without any new shoe purchases.  And I made it through the trunk show without any purchases (this also makes me sad).

I just shipped off my Ashton today.  My Lasalle and Wilberts kind of made them obsolete in my collection. I now try to not order shoes that will make another shoe obsolete. Still, a piece of your heart is gone when you sell a shoe.

Perhaps you should still consider the merlot PA second, or the Overlord in brown?  :decisions:

Interesting on the BR Traveler jeans. After reading a little buzz about them on here, I popped into a store this weekend and looked at them but decided I much prefer the ones from Tommy Bahama. Similar concept - "Authentic" fit (fairly slim cut and narrow leg) with just a touch of stretch, but they're so much softer than what I saw at BR, though admittedly they're a bit more expensive. Also, the sizing is a bit funny, as they run large, but maybe that's deliberate, to make me feel good about myself: "Why, yes, I DO wear a 33!" But maybe I will have to give the BR ones yet another look. I do have some cords that are cut like regular pants (not like jeans) with just a touch of stretch from BR, and they are among my favorite pants ever. So comfortable.
