Re: Hats. I have yet to find a hat that I feel looks good on my head aside from Ivy caps. I think I need a hat consultant.

I could resist the chili MacNeil but the BB chili grain if that was made in E I'd be all over it. The Cornwallis in chili is also fantastic.

Lobster you should hold out to see if you like the C&J. I'm currently deciding if I want to order some whole cuts for sizing from c&j, carmina, and bonafe. Looking for black and probably some sort of brown.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards this. Already sent C&J an email. We'll see. Can't have them all, as they say (unless you are TexasTexter).

Did someone say Kirkwoods?

Just got these in today.
Our usual ebayer with a once tried on pair. In my exact size. For $55.

I have had Sperrys (not the top end ends) and Fryes recently as my casual loafer. The CXL leather used here is soooo much nicer. They fit well, but they haven't been road tested yet obviously. I like the combo penny loafer boat shoe look. Will get a lot of mileage out of these with shorts and the weekend.

Really happy and these were a total steal. Just wish I would have nabbed the Liverpools he had as well.

Ok random question. I was traveling and had a brick/mortar AE store nearby and went in and tried on a few pair. They had my exact E Width in stock on bourbons daltons, but they said they would be shipping them back as they were not supposed to keep non current items in the store.

So will these go to Shoebank, even though they are firsts? Where else would they go???

I just ordered a D width from shoebank. In a 65 last I am clearly an E but in others I can go D or E depending on fits.

Tried on the Daltons in E and they were actually a tad loose. Not too loose but I should have tried on a D to see how those fit.
What has been everyone's experience on dalton widths???

I have sold a few pairs on eBay. I actually bought a few pairs on eBay that were seriously underpriced, polished them, and sold them for a good profit.
Doing that gave me a lot of leeway. Now if she sees a new pair, she doesn't know if it's coming or going.
Or staying. Usually they are staying.

My situation exactly.

I'm the same size in both the 511 and the 65 lasts with a touch more room in the 511.

Don't you need a pair in brown grain, too?

That was the one I was wanting for a long time, but I realized that I'm wearing suits far more than casual clothes, so the plain calf is far more versatile for me. Maybe down the road, but I think the dark chili will hold me over just fine.

I'm excited about them, I think they'll look badass with navy and gray suits.

I actually believe you can wear brown grain and suits. And I am typically more a traditionalist. I have the Players 2.0 in brown grain and wear with suits.

Edward Green and the British guys do a lot of brown grain. I am a big fan.

I was told today that the Leeds 2.0 was being discontinued. However, I was also told that they could very likely be bringing back an updated version of the Leeds later this year.

Also had a chance to see the new colors in person. They look nice. I really like the green and blue colors. Too bad they limited this to only a few styles.

Also found out there's only 1 bourbon Strand left in my size. This is possibly my last chance of getting a bourbon Strand. Hmmm.... what should I do....

Good info. But what update is needed?

A plain toe is a plain toe. I'm actually surprised the Leeds are not more popular, if not for the design, then for the fact is that AE Leeds are the only that makes it at a reasonable price point (say, ~$400,). The only one under it is Florsheim which is told used corrected grain and in person form what I've seen is indeed very shiny. The next level up is Alden, which is more expensive ($500+) and the toe is very bulbous.

So they are actually kind of the only pony on the field...discontinuing it seems a very strange move.

I just fired off emails to the bank for Walnut Cornwallis, Dark Chili Charles Street (Cornwallis), and navy Strandmoks. I may need someone's couch to sleep on when these show up.

They changed the lining on the Leeds 2 to the raw style (profila binding) and added a poron insole. They might just bring back the original Leeds design and offer it in some new colors like chili or some kind of new brown. To be clear, the Leeds will never be completely discontinued -- just certain versions will come and go.

I agree with you on your second comment, but it does just appear that people are buying more styles like the Strand, Rogue and McAllister than the plain toe shoes.

I think the original Leeds looked better, but the 2.0 was much more comfortable. I sold my original Leeds last week on Ebay, and someone on this forum bought them without either of us knowing at the time.

Soooo... the wife wore her new boots for the first time and it looks like she dropped a pen across them at work. ANY idea on if this can be reversed at home? Some places online are recommending hairspray, but I'm not sure if I trust that.
