Considering my first pair of shell (likely the PA). Anyone have real-world pictures of the difference between the brown and burgundy?

I have not seen the Washington Square mentioned here. I have always liked the "austerity brogue" style. I have seen a similar Carmina and liked it as well. This is on the 1943 last. I don't have room for it, but I would trade my black Fifth Avenues (my most formal black option) for these in a heartbeat. But that is a losing bet given I got the Fifth Ave when they were promotioned at $249 and these Wash Squares are at full price of $395.

Still though, I like this styling. Any reason this couldn't be used whenever and wherever the Park Aves and Fifth Aves are used in a rotation?

So I recently picked up the Lasalle from the shoe bank, and actually quite like the look of the shoe, but feel uncomfortable pressure on my right pinkie toe while wearing the 9.5D. This surprised me as the shoe is basically a dress version of the Clark Street and still on the 8 last. It's not a painful pinch, but the pressure definitely makes the shoe uncomfortable to wear. Left foot fits perfect in that size. So, I was just looking for input on whether it might makes sense to try to break them in/get the right shoe stretched, or whether it's unlikely that the right shoe will break in to a point where I can comfortably wear it. Not sure if anyone has experience specifically with the Lasalle (doesn't seem overly popular from all the pictures). I'm worried if I go up in width I'm going to end up with a left shoe that's too loose. Thanks in advance for the input!

Interesting, because I actually have this same issue with my Lasalle and it's on my right foot only. The Lasalle fits slightly more snug in the toe area than the Clark Street. What I did to solve this problem is use slightly thicker socks. For some reason, it took away that weird pressure I was getting on my toes. Since the Lasalle is pretty generous fitting in the heel, medium-thick socks work well without affecting the heel fit. I don't have this issue on any of my other 108 last shoes, just the Lasalle.

I have a couple of questions:

  1. How does the return policy work for AE factory seconds?
  2. Of the luckiest of FBWs out there who have both the Dalton and the First Avenue boots (non grain), how do they compare to each other in terms of fit?

For return there is no problem as long as you did not wear the shoe out (off carpet) it can be returned up to 6 months from my exp (some had said longer).

I would say it's real generous policy anything or any reason you can return. In fact I don't think I was ever asked for a reason I just said I would like to return and they looked at the shoe just to see it was not worn and issued a refund no questions asked.

From the homepage of Shoebank.com ...
Simply return unwanted, unworn Factory-Second shoes to us by contacting the store
for a prepaid return label and we will refund the purchase price, less $10 restocking
fee per pair of Factory-Seconds returned or exchanged. You may also return your Factory-Seconds at any Allen Edmonds store. Returns to the Factory Outlet stores are free, but the $10 restocking fee will apply to each pair of Factory-Seconds returned
to our Retail stores.

So had to run out to grab pizza so I wore the black Normandy boots I got from our fav eBay seller. Felt something funny on the left show on the floor mat and noticed the whole rear heel pad is coming off. Looks like it was actually never properly glued at the factory since you can see where the glue was and was not and mostly it's the was not. So I was thinking to just take some gorilla glue and do a quick repair what do you guys think?

Picture? At the very least contact the seller and see if he'll refund you some money and go to a cobbler.

First Ave is longer (close to 65) and has more volume. Despite what they say about the 201, I feel like the middle of the laces (top of arch) is tighter on First Ave than the Dalton.

I have them both in 9D and wear the same in 65. The Dalton is slightly short or narrow for me, had some heel slip, and took many wears to finally break in. First Ave is money, except it rubs the top of one foot when walking a bunch. Though I think this is more due to production variability.
