A lot of us have problems with the 1943 balmorals which is a shorter version of the 333

The 1943 most decidedly is NOT a shorter version of the 333. Don't tell people that.

The 333 had a generous instep with a different shape. The 1943 has a very low cone and fits a hell of a lot more like a 5 last with less volume at the toes.

I fit 333 last like it was made for me. The instep works for higher instep people.

A 5 last in my brannock size hurts like hell and I literally can't even get my foot all the way in a Cornwallis in my size. Very different lasts.

PSA- apparently when Phil in the Menominee, WI SB store says a pair of shell Bradleys are in "pretty good shape," he actually means there isn't a single thing wrong with them. The "spots" you think you see on the vamp and throat are flash artifacts. These are as close to flawless as my untrained eye can deternie and fit perfectly.

And, when I told Phil the price had been bouncing back and forth inexplicably between the regular price and the flash sale price all weekend (it had) he took me at my word and rang it up at the sale price. A couple more days of ugly carpet duty and these will be ready to take around the block.

I never really "got" what people saw in a split toe until I saw this post from a few days back. Coincidentally, a pair on Dainite, which I love, in my size shows up from everyone's favorite seller on the bay. Once again I traded suffering through a week at Disney World (some of you may recall my similar trade last September to acquire my HM, going in November this year) and convinced the wife that I'd make an offer but didn't expect it to be accepted. No, that's not just something I told her, I really didn't expect it. I offered 62.7% of his listed price to make it a round number for me and it was accepted within an hour. Maiden voyage today.

The only reason I can find that he even had them is the following

I threw a simple thin cork/leather insole over the top and am enjoying my first foray into shell all in (shoes, trees, and insoles) for just under 2 bills.

IIRC, shell conistons can be had for ~$600 by contacting a C&J store directly. Not cheap, but a screaming deall - search the shell thread for details, if you desire/dare.

/spoiler

A 10.5 EEE is not gonna fit any stock CJ lasts. I'm the same size and I tried exhaustively! The only thing that fit me was a 10 G in Pembroke. That and only like 3 or 4 oxfords are the only models they actively stock in extra-wide. Anything else requires a single MTO, which adds several hundy to the price.

But yeah, Connistins are badass...

Also, this thread moves super fast so I'm sorry if it was already posted, but shell Daltons are $100 off now.

I also find the 201 to fit slightly longer than the 65.

Yes I actually have the Warwicks in 9.5 but I wear a 10.5 C on the 65 last. I am swimming in my 10D Jefferson 2.0.

Tan McTavish today, the double sole is awesome.

Colors, layers, cardigans, oxblood, longwing, watches, pretty much the perfect picture.
